Well, that was a bit better if you’re an Australian fan.

McSweeney - well done, might not look amazing in the book, but was arguably the most important piece of the match.

Labs - not back to his best, but as with McSweeney, hugely important innings even if it lacked some fluency.

Boland - this is why he’s in the squad, he hits the spot from ball one and does his god damn job. To have that available as a back up is priceless.

Head - did Head things, don’t move him, let him just do his stuff.

Cummins - shaded by Starc, but produced two of the best balls of the match in my opinion. Bounced back well.

Starc - severely underrated, yes it’s not always perfect, but damn if he isn’t absolutely unplayable at times. Should of been MOTM for mine.

On to Brisbane, must win for both teams really, as Boxing Day will almost certainly be a result, and relying on weather in Sydney is a risky strategy.
The McSweeney /Labuschagne partnership on Friday Night was the deciding part of the game - if they nick one it could have been carnage but they survived

Well that ended up being easier than I expected after we were 3/103 early on in the first session of day 2.

Les Burdett would hate these day/night tests. He prepared a pitch to get a result late in day 5 of a test. Probably under instructions from Bradman to maximize attendance and gate receipts.

This series is starting to remind me of the 2010-11 Ashes series.
1st test a draw but Poms were 200 runs behind on first innings but dominate their 2nd innings and were 1/500 odd
then
2nd test Poms won by an Innings
3rd test Aussies bounce back hard and won by about 250 runs

But then the Poms won the next 2 tests by an Innings.

History suggests, Australia will win at the Gabba and India have drawn and then won their last 2 games at MCG, and Sydney will be a rain affected draw.

2 things

1) The Victories become more emphatic as they go on

2) Only team that we haven't played a D/N test in AO is SL.

can we just rest marsh. we have a million part timers in the team who can bowl his overs we need him at his peak not bowling 120km pies

The second one lol- finished the flask though but just wanted a walk after and walked the wrong way eventually just retraced steps to the city then went back embarrassingly it was just on the next corner from where I was lol
dont get arrested like Nollsy on Hindley St LP.

Haven't played Sri Lanka, Bangers and Zimbos and one day we might play Irish and Afghanis.

Great win, glad I could be there today and yesterday.

Hopefully Cummins remembers the rush of his fifth wicket today and keeps a third man in permanently for Reddy, Jaiswal and Pant. They can't help themselves ramping the short ball, it's almost a reflex because in the IPL it's usually free runs. On bigger grounds it is a risk though.

Surely the Travis Head innings was more important.

Indian bowling on Friday night was poor imo.
They get knocked over and there’s a fair chance we would have been 5 or 6 down that night.

Under no planet is Dennis Lillee not being in the side. First bowler picked. Or are we just talk from 2000’s onwards.

Lillee
Cummins
Third quick (that’s open) probably go Allan Davinson myself

Keith Miller as the AR, Gilchrist keeper, Warne the spinner.

There’s some debate playing two spinners as you have Miller as a third quick
Are you drunk? I think Cummins is in our top 5 Quicks since wwii but there is absolutely zero chance you pick him ahead of Pidge in an all time Australian list. That's before you get to the unbelievable foil McGrath would be to Lillee as an opening partnership.

This was the first time in 8 years that Lyon has bowled in a test match and not taken a wicket. The last time was a pretty infamous test match in Hobart against South Africa. (There was a strange anomaly in the Ashes a couple of years ago where he didn't bowl a ball.)

That's a cool stat I reckon, 8 years is longer than most guys careers.

I tend to agree the Indians were not attacking the stump line enough, not bowling full enough etc. as Ponting was highlighting in the commentary, still a very good effort to get through from Marnus and McSweeney.

It seems that the exchange went something like this.

Head (after getting out): "What the f*** was that?"

Siraj: "w***er!"

Head: "You're the w***er, mate, if anyone is".

---

Well bowled.

Omfg perfect Office homage

Hopefully Siraj was sweaty and then got sprayed with water on the boundary and said ‘was already wet so the joke’s on you.’
