It's crazy to suggest, but I think we're already in the 'taking him for granted' territory in some respects.

He's bloody elite and poised beyond belief. Anytime the pill is in his hands, I just have 0% concern that something bad will happen. He's not only reliable, but he has an incredible amount of x-factor.

Love him.

I just can't help but think he's miscast. Obviously has the talent to rack up possessions behind the ball, but to what end? He's not a damaging player, he's a damage control player at the moment.

I want to see what he can do in the forward half of the ground. Most his possessions are in the defensive 50. How will the ball move if he's getting 30 possessions between the arcs and forward of centre?

Surely the plan is for him to go forward or mid/forward in the near future. I think Goater getting hurt so early has delayed that plan. He will be even more elite when he’s inside that F50.

I know he racks it up, but I don't think he's really elite now. I see plenty of times a game where he makes the wrong decision or chucks it on the boot in a rush.

I'm of the opinion if you want him to be a forward of centre player you have to develop him there now. Players develop habits. You want him to develop habits that are beneficial forward of centre, play him forward of centre

Imagine being able to find the footy like Sheez but then constantly having little to no support and having nothing to kick to up the field, because your half forward line is a clusterf@&k.

So many times yesterday he found himself in a jam because he had no support and no one working for him down the line.

He is desperately trying to create run and overlap but he is getting no help at all.

Really feeling for the kid.

It can't be a fitness thing though can it? We recruited Stephens, fisher, tucker, shiel and we've got Scott. Aren't they all good runners? I thought this would be one of the big changes we'd see this year.... Just that were overall fitter and able to run up and back a bit more. I honestly don't get why sheez wouldn't have one of them floating nearby as an option to help rebound.

It’s not fitness mate, it’s just that all these blokes and our half forwards are either 1. Not willing to work hard enough to provide an option or 2. Don’t know how to position themselves in dangerous places.

Hard to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys.

The quandary is if you move him forward you remove one of the tools to feed him. We almost went an entire quarter yesterday without a inside 50.

It's chicken or the egg sort of stuff. If he's the one getting it further up the ground are we less likely to turn it over at centre wing/half forward? How many of his possessions deep in defence just straight forward 15 metre kicks or long down the line, not utilising his creativity?

Unfortunately we've found ourselves in a position where we can't rely on the 5 other players in defence to execute simple passes and make good decisions.

True, there's been a number of times this season where he'd hit up Wardlaw on the D50. Poor bloke is gassed having to cover the whole midfield yet he's still able to present. Fitness is only part of it.

Our forward half structure is the pits. And the two players who are physically capable of contested marking (Zurhaar and Larkey) have no form in doing so.

If we kick it higher than 10 metres above the ground, it will only provide advantage to the intercept defenders every team (bar us) have.

Put the C on him next year. He’ll wear it with pride.

How about we let him play 3 or 4 seasons to build his experience and to become a bone fide top liner. Then, when he is really ready, give him the keys to the club. There’s been plenty of players given the expectation of captaincy too early, and touch wood who knows what his next couple of years hold.
Happy to enjoy watching him grow at his own highly-accelerated pace
