Your examples are bad because both McEvoy and Vickery are top 10 picks.

Out of your reach.

I know pick 12 wouldn't get them my point was that we are better off trying to get a young ruckman like McEvoy and Vickery because they are worth going after whereas Hale really isn't worth pursuing.

We have more pressing needs with our first pick than a backup ruckman, another big KPF to pair up with Watts comes to mind. I'd prefer to blood Fitzpatrick and Gawn than waste time with Hale.

any chance of targeting Sam Blease??? yet to debut......

First thing I thought of when I saw the headline. Fitness issues are obviously a worry, but exactly the kind of player that would help us along if he can stay on the park.

Ignore him, he is clueless.

I think that stupid laughing face the OP put on this thread hasn't done this discussion much good.

Blease = pick 17. That's about right for Hale.

You are no chance of getting a decent young ruck in a trade.

That's my point.

These guys are drafted, developed and very rarely moved on at a young age.

Look @ the Mumford deal if you want to know what it takes to move one.

Bailey would be completely insane offering up a 1st round pick for Hale,

Why would Melbourne trade away there first round draft pick on a second string ruckman that in 2 years will be nothing more than depth?

Can anyone seriously see that happening? Cause I don't.

If he has indeed gone for a fitness test at Melbourne then North must be seriously considering pick 30 odd plus for him.

Andy, the answer to your question has been posted on several occassions now. Please stop filling up the board with the same questions.

The Answer to life, the universe and David Hale going to Melbourne for 1st round pick is..................................

..........because we will get a higher pick than Melbournes 2nd round pick from other clubs.

Please don't type the same stupid question again.

You're placing a fair bit of faith in Spencer, Gawn and Fitzpatrick.

Gawn's durability is an issue, especially with a reco under his belt, and more injury issues this year.

You're getting a bit ahead of yourself if you think Fitzpatrick and Spencer are anything close to "making it" at AFL level as ruckmen also.

GC is the only legitimate possibility.

You nominated the Saints and the Hawks (on our board) who unless they gain picks in seperate trades would have to part with their first rounders to beat us. Do you honestly think that will happen?

dammit, the dees always seem to have a higher draft pick than most teams in the competition.

GC have expressed interest in Hale and vice versa. So have Hawthorn. StKilda are yet to get in to the game.

It's not as if North are locked in to a deal with Melbourne for pick 32 if there is no other interest in Hale.

Scott rates Hale in Norths best 22 players and is on record as stating that Hale will be traded if a satisfactory trade can be arranged.

Pick 32 alone is not satisfactory.

Hawthorn have the rights to a pick at the end of the 1st round as compensation for losing Brown to GC17.

That would trump pick 31 or whatever your 2nd pick is.

Why wouldn't we place faith in them?? they are all 21 or under, two of them are in their first season at the club, with Gawn being noted as a tap specialist and Fitz touted as a top-10 draft pick before he got chronic fatigue syndrome.... + Fitz has put in some promising performances in the VFL

Gawn's durability may be an issue, im not going to call it in black and white after one season with us (barely a third of a season due to his injury)

thats why he played only 12 games this season and is being offered up for trade???

sounds like Scott is playing hardball, tbh i wouldn't expect anything less from him, trying to secure a deal which will be heavily beneficial to the club, the fact is if Hale has had a medical with melbourne its pick 32 which will almost definately be on the table, and if he has had a medical, that means north have basically agreed

So who out of Goldstein or McIntosh should have been replaced as ruckman by Hale in the side this year then?

It means nothing of the sort FFS; i have lost count of the player who have had medicals with clubs leading up to the draft period who weren't drafted by that club for vairios reasons.

roomachine said that Scott stated Hale was in their best 22 FFS!!! or didn't you read the post i quoted?

of course its nothing set in stone mate, but there would be a general "yeh thats around the mark" obviously if they get a better offer or decide its not worth it they can cancel, what i can tell is there is little chance of a medical being done without north's allowance

There is no chance that Fitzpatrick or Gawn will be ready, and completely overtaken a guy like Hale at the age of 20.
