Player Watch #33: Kamdyn McIntosh Re-Signed until 2025

If we don't give kids a go first up (granted they had to have doen the work during the pre-season), then we are just stupid.

If we have kept KMac on, he should be last resort in the ones, not first choice!

If like last year we have a heap of injuries and lacking players to play a position he can play, then sure...

But him being a starting option is terrible for us!

Yes and no. They only thing about the early rounds especially is how taxing they can be. Look at McAuliffe last year, looked a million bucks in and around the ball but couldn't go on the spread or hard enough defensively. Mac will help fill that breach, but not in front of Banks or Hugo on the wings, nor Mansell, Campbell, Green maybe, MRJ who have the tanks now.

So yes first up the young players, the new kids will come in gradually. Can see him on the bench early I the season, otherwise why keep him if they don't plan using him.

If Banks steps up another notch this year he will own one wing. If Hugo can keep it and improve a bit he has the other. KMac is the guy who fills a hole and helps set standards and does weird stuff that makes the club a better place to be around.

I love him, and hope he is kept out of the AFL by young players ripping it up.

But he is great insurance and good to have around. 10 games to 200.

Would be an interesting prospect up forward, he has some good offensive 1v1 numbers. Would possibly fit that Townsend role well.

He played quite a bit up forward last year and did nothing. Townsend was a good mark and frightening with his tackling, MacIntosh is neither. Plus we have about half the list who could play there.

I can understand the argument. He’s a running machine and if we want to keep shutting down that side of the ground we don’t have anyone else.

He’s coming to the end I agree but we need some senior players to stick around for a bit. I wouldn’t turf him.

Think it will be a horses for courses kind of approach with Kmac this year

Just a plug and play role player that will be utilised because of his experience and ability to help guide the younger players (both on and off field)

Probably get games based around other available players and general form of our younger players to create some competition for list spots and keep everyone honest

He will play his 200th game this year for the club this year and given more to our club than any of us could even dream of
Like you the amount of disrespect he still cops is pretty crazy in my eyes

He din't even play wing for much or the year, so his job forward, like Picket's was to play a defensive role you'd think.

It is not hate, he has just lost his spot because we need to try new players and see if others are better. Hugo was last year, hopefully another wing steps up this year. That is what happens when you area a role player in a poor side, you eventually get pushed out. All the others have.

He is backup and that is why he is kept on, plus a great clubman and role model for the new players.

What is thus position shutting down a side of the ground? Every time a team switches across the backline, the fat side switches, and switching is every second exit from the backline. Every time a team kicks out from after a point, the fat side can change.

Hugo covered a huge amount of territory last year, and was damaging and showed real upside. We have to find another wingman, after all Mac did not play wing at the end of the season so it looks as though he has already been overtaken.

I have watched toooooo many of his games, and sadly he hasn't been AFL standard. Lucky to be at a club where he has been a walk up under 3 coaches.

He's getting selected for running, not his football. And no reason for that to discontinue. We hurtled to the spoon.....dropped once.

Yze has been incapable of dropping senior players. See if Caracella brings a different selection perspective.

Yze didn’t drop senior players last year because he simply didn’t have any viable alternatives to pick from for 80% of the season

If he is fit & not in the senior squad come round 1 then i have no idea why they retained him. We just re-signed him & considering the lopsided age of our list, what was the point of re-signing him if he wasn't able to help cover until the young kids get some development time etc?

But he can cover. He is still and adequate wingman, but I just hope he is not first choice over developing players and maybe hopefully a bit of reshuffling. We have lost so many there still needs to be a core of senior players for guidance on the track, the VFL or seniors.

As far as resigning's go, Ryan's 3 year deal is stranger.

Been a great clubman and I have nothing bad to say about him but he shouldn’t be an auto selection next year. If his form warrants it, sure, but I’d hope we put kids in front of him to begin
