Well there’s got to be a reason why Ellis has two and McIntosh only one? Why wasn’t McIntosh playing in the grand final but Ellis was?

Happy he's going to be staying. He started the year playing great footy. I'll be surprised if he doesn't start round 1 on the wing. He's an elite runner, a good mark and doesn't lose one on ones. The good certainly far outweighs the bad with Kamdyn and I don't think we'll lose anything by having him come in for Ellis.

Where are your metrics mr proust?

For mcintosh v ellis?

size, strength, hardness, not being soft, marking ability, ability to defend //

Yes Ellis' running ability and finding the ball is good but he isnt a vastly better player. he is a lot worse in many aspects of the game

Name: Kamdyn McIntosh
Club: Peel Thunder
Height: 192cm
Weight: 78kg
Position: KPD
Profile
McIntosh is a close checking, disciplined defender who can play on all sizes whether it be tall, medium or small forwards to a high level. He finished the season really strongly and showed strong progress in his offensive game in the second half of the season showing an increased willingness to shift off his man and generate some drive. Ball use out of the back half is a highlight and for a tall uses it really well by both hand and foot. Also has really impressive closing speed and above average athleticism allowing him to stick with his man. Has excellent endurance and can go all day. Just one of those guys you can give a role to and he will complete it, no fuss and get the job done. Sometimes with defenders that’s all you need. Also late in the season showed some ability to push up onto a wing and play some good footy showing that he has a few different strings to his bow.

I am pretty stoked Kam is hanging around post his renos

contracted this and next year... lets hope is a tigers man for a long time

the list suddenly looks pretty young - Pickett (28.0), Lambert (28, 1m), Grimes, Martin, Astbury, Cotchin Riewoldt, Edwards, Houli. everyone under 28 outside of that group

mcintosh 25/26 90 games premiership player etc. might prove valuable

coach-pet Ellis being gone opens a spot but i would prefer Graham, Ross, RCD, Stack etc. to midfield. macca might be a good broad back up

you’re still finding any way you can to belittle bellis it’s actually concerning, seek help

K Mac looking like the next Menadue
Will play in the 2's and be battling against the likes of Ross, Naish, Egg, RCD, Turner
I'm assuming a fit Stack goes to the head of that queue
And if two of Nank , Soldo and CCJ are played then that's one less spot for a utility type

Richmond has continually improved its list each year for some years now
And that constant improvement claims some victims along the way

imo Kmac is really only competing with Naish, Eggand Turner for that position and if I’m Not mistaken Kmac was one of our best runners in the side so with Ellis gone we might see him playing on the fat side wing\half back

doubt we have seen the last of him yet just due to that running ability and height

It'll be interesting to see what the Match Committee do for wingers this season. You'd reckon Caddy has one side locked down.

Will the other side be a runner - Lambert, Kmac, Naish, Turner? Or try something a bit different - Edwards, Bolton, Stack, Rioli, Balta, Short?

I'd love to see Balta out there for a trial, in the early rounds, but there's some great options. Long-term, I think that spot is Naish's, leaving KMac to competing with Broad for game.

it may even come down to the best suited player for any given weak

some games that may want a more defensive looking set up with a Kmac who can play almost like a tagger on that wing running players off the legs and using his size to create a miss match witch can be very helpful especially against smaller teams

or they want a more aggressive player like a Naish who can really cut up a teams midfield and defensive line with great kicking

or evena player like short or Houli who can use that pace to burn players with speed and have stack or sombody else take that more defensive side at half back

great problem to have and makes us unpredictable as a side week to week

KMac has some great tools, but really drifted down in production lasy year. If he can re-find his mojo and do those cute little kicks etc he will probably hold the wing. But if he stays at the second half of 2019 level he's toast. In the long run he's probably got too many quality guys coming past him. I can see a trade end 2020, unless he turns it up a lot.

Still I love the guy. he's such a competitor and has some genuine top end AFL traits.

IIRC he was played well back at VFL, out of the Back Pocket, for much of the second half of the season. Thought he may have produced some line breaking runs, up an back, but he seemed out of sorts, like a man going through the motions. Doing just what he had to do and no more. I'm sure it wasn't that simple, but that is how it looked to me.

Yeah, early 2019 he started doing little off the side of his foot passes, and clever tricky things. Then it all dried up. Don't know why. He can be that high end wing/HBF. Hope he gets back there.

Agree that first half of 2019 was some of the best footy he has played for us
Doing all that defensive stuff but than going forward and making plays was a real weapon for us would be interesting to know if he was carrying something towards the end of the year that restricted him or if it was all just mental and he had some other stuff going on

Yeah, looked to me like he was under strict instructions to be a shutdown back pocket. Made me think the coaches wanted to see if he could shoe horn Broad out of the team. And he was very, very solid defensively. Just got little to no footy.

reckon most are missing one point here.
IMO Ellis wasnt keeping McIntosh out of the side it was Caddy. Caddy was a marginal improvement in areas McIntosh has been poor in. Neither imo should be on a wing both have glaring short comings for the role.

Ellis well we wont go there you either support him, or you cant stand him. he was another who had or still has glaring short comings.

Excuses excuses. These are the type of things that his critics have been going on about for all of his career.
