The never ending story .........

Hexarelin not among Hird charges

It has emerged that the 18-page document outlining the AFL's conduct unbecoming charges against James Hird contains no allegation that the Essendon coach used WADA-banned drug Hexarelin.
Fairfax Media has learnt that the letter issued by the AFL's solicitors after Hird was charged on Tuesday asserts that the coach was injected with tanning drug Melanotan II - a substance that also claims to keep users thin and boost libido. But no such assertion is made about Hexarelin, a peptide prohibited for use by athletes in World Anti-Doping Agency-compliant sports.

While Hird disputes - and intends to challenge - most of the content in the AFL charge letter, this is one point where his evidence to date appears to have carried weight with league investigators, despite the allegations of Stephen Dank and Dean Robinson.

Boot out Bombers for 2014 if crisis is unresolved

The AFL should expel Essendon from the 2014 season if the Bombers' supplements saga has not been settled by the end of November, former Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett said.
''I'm asking the question, is it worth continuing to have the whole code pulled down at the start of a new football season because of this ongoing issue or will we be better to say, 'All right, until it's resolved it's better that Essendon does not compete','' Kennett told 3AW.

''I think it's a real option … football is so important for people … the AFL has failed dismally, Essendon has failed dismally. If they can't resolve it and resolve it quickly I think that's a real option.
''We've got to ask ourselves the question, can the code afford to have Essendon competing next year if Essendon's going to attract all the headlines for the wrong reasons?''

LOL :p

Jobe Watson warned over ASADA

Essendon captain Jobe Watson has been warned not to antagonise ASADA after he agreed to put his name to a club-penned statement which said the Bombers players felt "fully vindicated" after the AFL announced it would not yet be charging them with prohibited drug violations.
The comments attributed to Watson and released by Essendon on Tuesday night raised eyebrows among the anti-doping community, given there remains no guarantee the Essendon players will not be charged by ASADA.

The reigning Brownlow medallist, who in June admitted he believed he had been given the banned drug AOD-9604, was told he had been ill-advised to suggest he and his teammates were in the clear. Those warnings came from executives in the AFL Players Association and from his management group. Watson reportedly told both his union and his management that he had simply agreed to put his name to a statement written by Essendon.
"As we've said all along, none of us believed we'd done anything wrong in relation to the 2012 supplements program," Watson said in the statement which claimed to be on behalf of all the players.
"We've fully co-operated with every part of the ASADA investigation and we've always said we've got nothing to hide."

Good one Jobe :D
"Jobe put his name to a statement and he realised after re-reading it that he would have changed a few words because he knows the players could still be sanctioned.
"Perhaps he didn’t read the statement as carefully as he should have.’’

This passage absolutely seals the reputation of that flog Mark Robinson:

ESSENDON'S concerns over the use of the banned anti-obesity drug AOD-9604 were raised at a club crisis meeting on February 4.

Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority investigators have been told club doctor Bruce Reid referred to the substance during a meeting of club figures at the home of former Essendon chairman David Evans.

Tonite on SEN, a caller rang in and accused Robinson of showing his Essendon bias. When asked by Robinson to explain why, the caller cited Robinson's empassioned plea that Bruce Reid was a "great bloke who would never jeopardise the safety of his players ... that he thought of them as his 'children'".

Robinson responded by telling the caller to ... and I kid you not ... "pull his head out of his arse!". When the caller defended himself by saying that Reid had presided over the administering of banned substances to players, Robinson (backed up by Schwartz and that golf clown) went on a rant about how there is "confusion" about the status of AOD-9604 and that there had been conflicting advice etc etc ...

However, one thing that there is NO CONFLICT ABOUT WHATSOEVER is that it is a substance that is NOT APPROVED FOR HUMAN USE!

The passage above shows that Reid clearly knew that the players were receiving AOD-9604 injections. Which raises the question; what reputable doctor on the planet would advise that a group of healthy young males subject themselves to the use of clearly experimental substances? And if he didn't approve the use of AOD-9604, what reputable doctor would stand by while it was administrered to his "children"?

Would any parents on here sit idly by while someone with no medical background shot them up with exotic substances?

Therefore, Reid has clearly failed in his duty of care for the players (as the caller was suggesting) and Robinson's defence of Reid on the grounds that he is a "good bloke" is just poppycock. Even worse was Robinson's defence of himself using spin and obfuscation rather than addressing the heart of the matter. Good bloke or not, Reid failed the players, simple.

This my fellow BF-ers is what passes as "journalism" in this country. Pull your head out of your arse indeed!

The club ought to be deregistered. Wont happen unfortunately, but I cringe thinking about the next couple of youngsters who could be drafted into that hazardous environment.

It begs the question, did the players also not read the consent forms, or any other information in front of them. Surely they should know by now that you need to read everything before signing, and make sure you completely comprehend what you are signing.

Detailed charges imminent
"It's our intention to get the charges out in the public domain so that the people understand what lays behind the charges and the particulars of the charges," Demetriou told 774 ABC radio on Friday morning.

"Hopefully we'll do that in the coming days, because I think that it's important and it will answer a lot of questions."

"I hope so. As we sit here, we're of the understanding that that hearing is to go ahead," Demetriou said.

"I hope it is for the game. These are serious changes. Our obligation is to protect the integrity of the game."

"I would hope we would try to get it resolved, for the sake of the game."

The League boss also corrected claims that the interim ASADA report could not be used at the hearing.

How good is jobe signing the document from the club about feeling vindicated. Now in hot water again.

Seems poor Jobey hasn't learnt his lesson.

STOP SIGNING EVERYTHING THE CLUB PUTS IN FRONT OF YOU!!!

During his lengthy testimony before the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority, Reid explained that in January last year he called an immediate halt to the supplement program when he discovered Dank had been administering players with the contentious peptide AOD9604 without his knowledge.

WADA are going to have a field day with this.

What a pathetic captain! Just a subservient puppet willing to compromise everything when the club tells him to jump. How his teammates can look up to him is beyond me. Does he even have a brain?

The penalty that would probably hurt the most would be only allowing Essendon to use, lets say, 90% of their salary cap. This would mean that they would have to trade players etc.

Copping a fine or not being allowed in the first round of a draft seems a bit soft...

ESSENDON players were to receive 1500 injections of AOD-9604 and Thymosin, according to an AFL charging document seen by the Herald Sun.
The document also states more than 16,500 doses of Colostrum and 8000 doses of Tribulus were planned.

The revelations come as lawyers for Essendon and club officials James Hird, Mark Thompson, Dr Bruce Reid and Danny Corcoran prepare a strong defence to charges they have brought the game into disrepute.

This investigation just keeps on giving and giving.
And there are some Essendon* supporters on the main board still in denial.

Wait, did i read correctly that there was plans to feed the Essendon players with colostrum? The same colostrum that is T**ty milk?

Wait, what?

Were they gonna hook Hirdy boy up to one of these and then let the players conga line past him after training?

He's just another puppet having his strings pulled by golden boy.
I still cannot fathom how Hird has put himself before not only his club, but his family as well.
Regardless of the outcome of this investigation, Hirds reputation will be tarnished forever.

Thanks a lot Essendon. Because of you, I now find myself agreeing with Caroline Wilson & Jeff Kennett. That is something I thought I'd never say.

I reckon Vlad should get Jeff onto the AFL Commission before 26th August, lol.

All of a sudden they have become my TWO favourite people in the entire universe.

Don't know how long it will last. :D
