Essendon has called another emergency meeting of parents and partners of the club's playing group in the wake of the latest drug revelations surrounding the Bombers.
The club is facing a backlash from concerned families of players – particularly from a number of partners who have become pregnant over the past two seasons.
According to a former senior club figure, a number of players have kept some of their medical records – including blood tests – and are now seeking independent medical advice.
"I know of several players who have taken blood tests outside of the club in the past few months," said the individual, who has been closely involved with Essendon for more than a decade.

"One player has a had a fertility test, a sperm count, and that will be monitored over coming years. The players are concerned with reports that some of the substances that have been given to them may impact their fertility in the next five, 10 or even 15 years from now."
The meeting – to be held at Windy Hill at 6pm on Tuesday – follows a Fairfax Media report that club officials have been unable to tell either their players or ASADA exactly what drugs they were given when they were injected with a substance bought overseas by a Melbourne man suffering from muscular dystrophy.

AFL to release details of charges against EssADA*, Hird & Bombers staff

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou says the league intends to next week make public details of the charges laid against Essendon and its officials ahead of the hearing set down for August 26.

"It is our intention to release the particulars of the charges in the next few days, because it's important for people to understand ... what is behind the charge of conduct unbecoming," Demetriou told Melbourne radio station 3AW.
"There is a series of particulars that goes with that charge."
Demetriou also would like the August 26 hearing to be public.
"It's entirely a decision for the chairman of the commission under our rules," he said.
"There's a lot of merit in a public hearing.
"The complexity of this case, notwithstanding the issues of privacy, it would be important for the public to understand what's gone on."

I know Malthouse has just spoken out about the Essendon saga but i wish people from the other clubs would start to speak out and vent their anger at what has gone on.
So much for a level playing field when a club doped their players on banned substances and then have the gall to try threaten legal action if they are punished.
The other 17 clubs should threaten legal action of their own if Essendon go unpunished.

Not feeling quite the same way for one idol to be dragging down some good people.

I know they all have their own choices to make but they've just gone in too deep for Hird and the point is that Hird wouldn't do the same in return.

Of course Hird has convinced himself that he's doing the honourable thing but that honour just has a little more weight to it when the Hird name is attached.
