Needed to improve on his output of recent times... good to see him use his one wood though - goals on the run. Hated seeing him on a wing opposed to Gulden at times. Gulden way too smart for him (and Macca and anyone else that went to him). Loved Ross' game as well.

The facts of JGTI

From 2017-2020 he was bottom six bc of youth and club rewarded him with a big contract in 2020 bc they expected growth in his game.
Unfortunately from 2021-23 he’s still a fringe player from 20-28 on our list.
He’s like the Mitch Marsh of the RFC and plays a good game every five or six , so the reality is if you keep backing him in then clubs stagnate as this how old Richmond operated. He still has currency value so we need to offload him before he ends up playing his career out in the vfl on big coin. It’s no surprise that eventually younger guys and trades will replace him so he will just decline further down the list.
His career basically ended when Hopper was traded in and with our slow midfielders and Wings such as Cotchin , Prestia, Hopper, Pickett, Kmac and Taranto he’s not going to improve us. We can see there are retirees in that list, but we need to add pace to the barebones of Taranto, Hopper and Bolton. He lacks any X factor and is a predictable one trick cultivating Clydesdale with no more upside to his game. As I’ve said for years, once a player basically doesn’t improve from their first two seasons then they become list cloggers and that’s exactly what JGTI is deteriorating to. It’s so obvious he’d reached his peak in 2020 yet he’s on big coin. With all our injuries he’s been lucky to grab a game , but with Mansell, Brown, Sonsie , Banks, Bauer , Coulthard and Trezise all on the wings ready to strike he’s going to struggle to get a game in the future.
We are really trying to find a spot for him by moving him to forward, mid, wing etc , but the reality is with his lack of speed you can’t hide on a football field anymore.
It’s sad having to put the truth about him on paper, but it’s so obvious he isn’t going to make us better when he’s actually going to make us worse off.

He’s playing Lamberts role (Barry) of defensive high half forward. It’s players like Graham and Lambert before him allow Dusty and Shai to play more attacking. It’s as obvious as ****. Unfortunately it’s the type of role where some weeks you’ll get 20 touches other weeks you’ll get 10. But super important as it allows Dusty and Shai to get there 20-30 and hit the scoreboard.
Extremely underrated. He is no where near the level of Lambert but also hasn’t done it for as long.

Lol at all the "I told you so" defenders. What because he played a good half of footy in a month?

Graham still sucks and within a few weeks (probably not next week as against the Eagles our whole team will look good) he'll be back to plodding along, turning the ball over and underdelivering.

To half time he had 7 possessions and 1 tackle. The conditions suited in the second half when it became a slow a slog, but overall he's still not good enough.

Lets see if he can do more than once a month or 2, these posters carrying on are far too easily pleased.

Been critical of Graham, and I guess rightly. In the first half, he looked slow and didn't do much, but played a much better second half and kicked two clutch goals. So hats off.
Now here's the thing he has to maintain this as min standard, and not go missing for the next few weeks to then pull in a good game.

Even though fridge is a solid unit he used to accelerate and generate a bit of speed over a short distance but now he looks like he's carrying weight around his ankles.

played well 2nd half and chipped with a couple of goals which was really really handy, could have had 4 but squandered a couple. still got him as our sub (when the cracking pace of a game has fizzled a bit). in our best side as Hopper, Cotch, Ross, easy have him covered in most areas.
