I’m a pessimist when it comes to cricket watching but I do fear that if we let the Poms get some momentum with a win in this match that they’ll be hard to stop in the series. The opportunity was/is now to bat them out of the match which is what makes Labuschagne and Smith’s dismissals all the more inexplicable. Got the foot on their throat - don’t take it off. Would be a great time for Head to magically find his mojo.

Please don’t suggest any miracle comebacks until at least midway through the 4th test (if we lose this).

I won’t even entertain that notion yet.

Takes the forecast into account maybe?

Looking really bad tomorrow, and iffy on Monday.

That said, England would back themselves to chase down anything short of 350 inside of 2 sessions.
Nah, not bad!

Quick thought - would there be any world where we would drop Warner and open with Head..thus allowing us to play both Green and Marsh (feel dirty saying it, but he did bat well first dig). We are gifting them a wicket in the first few overs every innings atm..would also allow us to use Starc and Cummins in super short bursts…
reckon play Marsh as an opener, Head stays at #5.

Marnus is a spud
He isnt a spud. But he also isnt a genuine test average 50-55 player.
Had an incredible start and rode some luck early , now teams bowl better to him and his performance has flattened out to his ability more.
Most likely 40-45 average at test level.

I’m not convinced …. Hasn’t looked comfortable at all ….brain fade of the highest order last night … just stupid

We can knock over the top order but bowl absolute tripe to their lower order … they all slog including Stokes and we serve up the perfect balls for them to free their arms …. Yes they have got lucky with the slogging… but why do we s**t the bed when the tail is in

I feel like Australian sides have been doing that against tailenders for the best part of a decade.

Looking at our tail, with guys like Cummins and Starc, you’d expect us to score more from our tail and yet we lost 6/20-odd the other day.

Tbf it’s Stokes’ wicket that makes most of the difference. If we actually had a plan for him the last test wouldn’t have been close and nor would this one. Holding the chances he gives us would help, too.

This could be the deciding moment of the match and also the series.

MIND NUMBING the bouncer barrage by Starc to Stokes.

Smithy and Marnus both falling to Moeen, oh the shame .

I've never been a Warner basher, but in his past 12 innings, only 1 score of over 50, an average under 20 per innings. Not good enough for a top order batsman. He's putting too much pressure on later batsmen. Has to go. Our top order is brittle right now.
It's not fair to Marnus who is basically an opener by default at the moment
