It is not 100% certain. The rule says nothing about a wicket keeper 'immediately' throwing at the stumps. What is immediate? Objectively, how much time does Carey have before immediate becomes non-immediate?

I'm interested to see if England makes any changes to their batting line up next week. Pope has remained in the squad but with that shoulder injury and iffy form to start the series, could make way and allow them to get the specialist keeper in the side. The performances behind the stumps has been a crucial element to the 2-0 scoreline. Carey has been pretty much flawless throughout, Bairstow has been less flawless.

If Carey doesn’t have a ping at the stumps very first ball Bairstow faces I’ll be very disappointed. Even just a cheeky roll so we don’t lose a run I’d love. Think it would upset the English to not back down and play “apologetic” cricket so full steam ahead.
Disagree. Wait a few overs and if he survives then do it as he will probably have forgotten by then

Of course it was a fully legal act. But it was a poor act that took advantage of the silly way cricket rules are constructed and went against conventions of behaviour. Just like the underarm ball.

Cricket needs to re-write the rules to dispense with any controversy over incidents like this. But until that happens, it was a sh*t thing to do.

After we were actual cheating dogs with sandpaper, and remain lying cheating dogs on top of that cough 'bowlers were unaware' cough we shouldn't have pulled a stunt like this.

The stunt that Bairstow himself tried to execute just a couple of days prior??

Right.

It is a both problem. Bairstow was an idiot, the wording of the rules is sh*t and could be easily fixed, and Cummo was a bit of a dog, as other captains in the same situation would have let him off.
Well considering 4 English captains have come out in support of the dismissal, I think you might be exaggerating that belief of yours.

hazlewood needs a rest and looked well below his best for most of the test so i assume boland will come in, with such short turnaround for quicks be tempting to bump carey to 6 and bring in neser for green i doubt that would happen and i hope green comes right or this series could be a serious setback in his development he really looked like a rabbit in the headlights this whole test.
If they're that worried about work load and getting Nesser in just bring him in for injured Lyon (don't think it will happen).

He probably has the same amount of time as Bairstow took trying to do the exact same thing 2 days earlier.

Didn't last year when Pope did it to De Grandholme. So he is a hypocrite.
Didn't De Grandholme took a few seconds to gather himself as he looked injured? That's even worst look for the "spirit of the game" and then many years ago, Bairstow did a stumping by waiting until the batsman lifted his feet.

These vibes. It'd be great theatre

Possibly.

Who am I to question Pat 'I didn't know about the sandpaper, pinky swear, I'll just let my teammates take all the blame' Cumdog's integrity?

Who exactly is waiting in the wings to replace Pope?

Titus' take on things:

Fellow member Geoffrey Beaumont said he would have confronted the Australian players physically in the members if years of inbreeding hadn’t made his bones like glass.

“It’s cheating, pure and simple. When you do something in the game that is within the laws, and the umpires rule it out, that’s cheating.”

I would've thought Foakes in and a reshuffle of the batting order.

Just noticed he's not in the squad, Dan Lawrence is the only backup batsman. So I take it all back, not interesting at all. Looks clear that Pope will play and they're going to keep backing Bairstow with the gloves.
