The physical action of running is a relatively small part of batting, which is why the laws allow a runner.

One would think the actual method of scoring (boundaries aside) is a bit more than that.

Just as a bowler can stand there and throw them down from the crease, the batsman can stand there and whack it if he wants to.

Unless they hit boundaries they are only scoring singles with Vihari struggling to run, don't know how anyone thought they were still a chance to win.
 
It seems that Warne’s much feted cricketing genius only extends to putting fielders in close and bowling spinners early these days.
