Completely agree with your last paragraph and this is the point I am making. Moving on from 3-4 (perhaps more if you include the bowlers) requires planning and a period of time. It simply won't be a knee-jerk reaction to the poor batting performances recently.

Given the above and the fact he just scored a century and is Steve Smith, you wont also go axing your most experienced and well creditentialed player along with the above. Smith will get to the Ashes.

Not really, Cummins & Starc where cooked. No Hasselwood and Marsh not even considered for a spell. Lyon couldn't do a whole lot on a green top. We really did not have enough pace to threaten in the end of play last night.
