Here's another side. I was at a Carlton function 2000ish and Peter and Geoff Motley spoke. Peter said that John was in hospital with him every day and was so supportive after his accident. Just having a look at that pitch from a overhead - it looks to have a lot of squares on it ie. big plates and if hes shaved it down to only 3mm of grass it might deteriorate quickly with some sun on it and have lots of uneven bounce later in the Test if we get that far
