Why do you say that?
English cricket commentator Isa Guha has found herself in hot water after appearing to call Indian bowling Jasprit Bumrah ace a “primate”.
In the opening hour of play during Sunday’s second Test in Brisbane, Guha was commentating with former Australian Test bowler Brett Lee when she uttered the word that raised eyebrows across the globe.

“Bumrah, today: five overs, 2-4. So, that’s the tone, and that’s what you want from the ex-skipper,” Lee said.

In response. Guha said: “Well, he’s the MVP, isn’t he? Most valuable primate, Jasprit Bumrah.”

Jhye has been playing 2nd eleven grade cricket and shield...and being managed by CA..he is playing cricket but is getting way managed by CA...

I agree needs to play back to back shield games hopefully 2nd half of the shield he plays them all
He looks too big for me, overdoing the weights Shane Watson style.

She’s a woman of Indian background, she’ll be just fine. It will blow over very quickly. Now if it had been Warner who’d said that, God forbid, all hell would have broken loose.

He would have been banned for life, and there would have been a major diplomatic incident. There would also have been threats to cancel the tour. Australian Ambassador in India would have been called in for a please explain, and there would have been trade sanctions at the very least. 🤣🤣

oh lets see......Greenie is injured so thats one..scored 170 not out against the kiwis batting four plus he can bowl a bit and is alright in the gully ...so there's your replacement for smith

A young fella with a baggie blue 19 year old just smashed a ton against the Indians in the PM eleven plus he is having a good shield season .....konstas for Ussie

Marnus.....still young could be around a bit but if you want a replacement....you have got Mcsweeney who bats three for SA currently opening.......Patterson for NSW scoring runs....and young Goodwin from WA has a nice technique and is making runs

So the cupboard is not bare
We shall see if any of those young fellas can translate their talent into test match cricket. Let's see how they develop for the remainder of the first class summer. Oh wait - it's on hold until early February and the home test matches are long gone.
Konstas looks good. McSweeney - jury is well and truly out about him as a test player.

Goodwin, Connolly, Kellaway maybe. Patterson is nearly 32. Look through the Sheffield Shield top run scorers and averages list. Apart from Konstas there's no-one under 30 - Hunt maybe at 28 - who even looks like a test match batsman.

She probably meant it in its meaning as "leader"

Lots of people saying Smith dug himself out of a hole, turned his form around, had to grind it out etc etc. Yeah there was undoubtedly a bit of that but also I think people just forget that that is what a test match innings is supposed to look like. You do the hard work early then you cash in later once the ball is old, the bowlers are tired and the pitch is flat. It’s never easy strolling out at 2/ not much against the best bowler in the world with the ball doing a bit. Most of the time you can’t just start stroking it to the boundary from ball 1. Bazball and Travis Head have given us a warped view on things. What they do is not normal. Smith has never been a hugely fast starter.
Hard to argue with any of that. You're right it's test cricket, it's supposed to be a contest. Also a lot of what Head does is more attitude. He obviously has great hand/eye stuff but he's never flustered. Sometimes I think we over analyze things. 2/3 for nothing calls for a cool head which he has, that's why he is so valuable.

The weather forecast for Brisbane doesn't look good today and looks even worse for the next two days so a draw looks likely.
Very frustrating. Had been really looking forward to this contest. Stinking hot day in Melbourne. All geared up to spend 7 hours slumped on the couch watching the cricket, whilst hydrating with ice cold stubbies.

May have to watch the Kiwis demolish the Poms instead.

Yeah, about that...

It's currently raining in that test match too although the forecast for the next two days looks better for Hamilton than Brisbane.

Raining in Hamilton as well

Oh please.
Domestic Sports League Salary Cap Rorting is nowhere near as severe/embarrassing to our country from an international Sports community perspective.

I still get crap from a couple of my English mates about the disgraceful acts Warner and Smith did.

What's worse, esp as captain, I don't think Smudger was actually generally remorseful at all for what he did (I do feel like Warner was genuinely contrite for his part in it)

You'll never convince me otherwise that no pro Aussie athlete has brought shame and embarrassment to our country over the last 20-30 years than Smith.
Smith wasn't even involved, warner was. Smith went down because he was captain. If you're wondering how I might know this, he's my cousin. Keep your posts to things you know about. Every single other person in cricket who has been involved in ball tampering, from Afridi chewing on the ball, to the english using sand and mints have served a one match ban for it, the Australians, who didn't even damage the ball, it was inspected by the umpires and found to have not been affected, and continued to be used, served an entire year, so spare us your self righteous indignation, he did his time and wasn't even involved in the decision. If you want to vent with your little tantrum vent at Warner. (who also did his time.)

We really should detach Queensland from the mainland and let it float out into the coral sea it's only purpose is to let the country down.

Was OTT the bans anyway, lets not forget Faf Du Plessis (among others) got a 1 game ban as per the ICC guidelines. Honestly that's what we should have done, instead lets stuff our test side around to please everyone whom 90% wouldn't even watch the sport and would forget about it in a month!
