No way can't believe this.

Whose going to Cpt my dream team now?

Oh don't worry I'll give it to Bonar. He'll be fine and get back out there, plenty of footballers get injured at training. I hope he does continue to develop but heck we're not going to miss him on current output.

Good grief, for someone who pretends to know his shit…. You have a habit of posting weird shit.

Eddie Ford will be unavailable for the immediate future after suffering an ankle injury at training last week.

The young forward kicked his first goal of the season in Round 5 against the Western Bulldogs before being named as an unused medical substitute in Round 6 before suffering the knock.

McPherson says Ford, who is currently in a moon boot, will return to light work in the not too distant future.

"It looks like a syndesmosis injury for Eddie, so he's in a moon boot and on crutches at the moment. He'll be non-weight bearing for a few days now," he said.

"Hopefully he'll be available to play again in the next three to four weeks."

Our Eddie has been getting wraps for a few weeks now. Fairly sure he was injured earlier in the season for a while but I would have thought his name would have been raised a few times as a potential in but can't even recall him being named an emergency. Can't even recall that he's played a game so far this year.

Any track watchers and/or VFL watchers able to shed some light on where Eddie's at and whether we're any chance to see him in the seniors soon?

From what I’ve been told he is still building some match fitness after that injury.

Probably has a bit to do with team balance as well. Not sure you can have all 3 of Ford, Zurhaar and Ziebell all playing in the one forward line. All of them are 3rd tall types.

I’d imagine the form of Curtis and now the current trialling of Spicer might have something to do with his continued absence as well.

I’d love him in though. Seems a player that just never seems to let us down when he gets the opportunity.

Fantastic Ford

After establishing himself as a strong VFL talent over much of 2021, second-year forward Eddie Ford has spent most of his time at reserve level this year hammering home the fact that he looks ready for a consistent run in the senior side.

Earlier this year Ford looked to have found that opportunity, and a well-taken goal against the Western Bulldogs on Good Friday indicated his quality to those who hadn’t seen his performances in the VFL.

An ill-timed ankle injury saw him sidelined for a number of weeks, but he looks on the cusp of returning to the senior fold, and a strong performance against the VFL Tigers will only strengthen his case.

Ford has kicked eight goals in four games since his return, converting everything from snaps, to long range set shots, to goals on the run. He’s also clunked some impressive contested marks in that time.

While he still has a lot to learn he’s been a joy to watch this season whether he’s been at AFL or VFL level.

Eddie is doing well and he is our most dangerous VFL forward, but as RF08 suggests, he is still building his fitness and tends to go quieter by the fourth quarter.

Still feel this is a kid who needs a solid block of AFL games to develop further. If fit I'm not convinced he gains that much in the VFL.

He's in the Paul Curtis and Phoenix Spicer camp - all 3 have the talent to have an impact on a game in a short period and should be given some senior continuity (when they don't have covid..).

Agreed. But if we looked at it from team balance perspective - hard to see Paul Curtis, Curtis Taylor and Eddie in the same side. From development point of view, he definitely needs to play. Now with Covid outs it's a no brainer.

Ziebull has his spot.

Ziebull, Ford and Zurhaar don't all fit in the same forward line.

Zurhaar, Spicy P, Ford, PC, Larks and Chom is a pretty dynamic forward that will punish opposition backs.

-2 “smalls”
-2 medium marking types that can still provide tonnes of pressure
-2 talls to split packs and pile on the goals.

+1 highly rated KPF in the draft and our forward structures will be drastically improved.

They're both good. Have a bit of Taylor Garner about them too. Hopefully he got all the injuries.

I am really bullish about Curtis. I think he has the potential to be a top shelf talent. 40d has shown flashes and Garner just couldn’t catch a break. Curtis is only in his first year and has already shown more. He’s just got it.

Can't believe we haven't given this a kid run down back, especially in the 2's to see if it works.

At 190cm, he can play tall, has beautiful hands and kicks it 60m.
This. I think he’d make a good half back. He’s hard but has the flair as well. Especially if Zurhaar stays. Spots in the forward half for his type will be tight now that P. Curtis is pretty much a lock.

I think he could become similar to Sicily if he could learn the role. The attributes are there
