Was from today’s Herald Sun

(Sorry, I couldn’t print the article as it’s behind a paywall)

here's the tigers part of the article + names attributed are Jon Ralph, Jay Clark, Glenn McFarlane and Marc McGowan (who knows who wrote what parts)

Greater Western Sydney is prepared to release star midfielder Jacob Hopper to Richmond but only if the trade bonanza includes two first-round draft selections.

Hopper last week chose Richmond over Geelong as his club of choice, but is fully aware as a contracted player GWS might hold him to a deal to 2023 he only signed in September last year.

The Herald Sun understands the Giants will be prepared to move Hopper, who hits free agency next year, but only if the price is right.

Richmond has only this year’s first-round pick and its future first-rounder but has to satisfy the Giants on both Tim Taranto and Hopper.

Moving Hopper on would help free up valuable cap space for GWS as small forward Bobby Hill also prepares to make a trade request to Collingwood by midweek.

That realignment of the Giants’ salary cap will allow new coach Adam Kingsley to move on without the shadow of a salary cap crisis, but he will lose Tim Taranto, Hopper, Bobby Hill and likely Tanner Bruhn.

GWS has already priced Hopper at the same value as departing midfielders Adam Treloar and Dylan Shiel.

Both of those players secured the Giants two first-round selections as they handed back a second-round pick to the Stars’ new clubs.

While many ambit claims are thrown around weeks before the trade period, GWS has shown its hand in previous years with strong-arm trade tactics.

The Giants secured three first-rounders for free agent Jeremy Cameron (and handed two second-rounders back) and the Dylan Shiel deal with Essendon went down to the wire.

In the end Essendon handed over 2018 and 2019 first-round selections and got a 2019 second-round pick back, with Dons recruiter Adrian Dodoro saying of the Giants: “They were adamant they were going to keep him”.

Collingwood handed over pick 7, a future first-rounder and pick 65 to GWS for Treloar and secured pick 28 back in a 2015 trade.

Richmond might have to include some players into the mix given its draft haul is pick 12, 19, 30 and a future first-rounder, and they also plan to draft a developing ruckman.

Sydney Stack is expected to sign a new one-year deal while Jake Aarts and Riley Collier-Dawkins remain uncontracted.

Dustin Martin has made clear to Richmond he feels revitalised and ready for the challenges ahead as he prepares to train every day while taking his usual off-season holiday.

While Martin was quiet in the club’s finals loss to Brisbane, he felt as good as he had at any time in the season but clearly lacked some match fitness.

Martin will have a full three-month off-season but has made clear to Richmond he will come back in early December fighting fit and with the requisite motivation to give his all in the final two years of his contract.

Jon Ralph has been saying Stack will be signing a one year contract extension for months now.
Im not even sure if he actually knows at this point.

How would he know? How could he?
These clowns make guesses, often with a ****teenth of actual info and are invariably wrong, but occasionally right by accident.
For example, Stacky was always going to be persisted with until it became untenable. His last month tilted slightly more positive. So on balance of probabilities he gets a contract and if so, highly likely to be one year.
If not he gets walked and no one wastes time on the stupid journo.
That’s why they call each other “the best in the business “. They just bring up the lucky guesses as proof.
In my previous life that track record would’ve had me out the door within 6 months and possibly sued for negligence.

Of course he doesn't know. He probably should read some of this thread to see that nobody knows what is going on with Stack at the moment. Journo's hear a whisper, one of many in this case and proclaim it as their's so they can say they were the first to report it. Caro has mastered that art.

I think these journos get their info from Bigfooty. They'll be reporting Nick Daicos is coming to Richmond soon.
Someone should text it in to that trade bell segment on Whateley's show. "Hearing Nick Daicos could join Tom Green at Richmond."

Idk if I'd be letting ss leave post edwards Lambert Caddy parker

Must keep 1 of stack / rcd, imho. Need some depth. More so if there will be few draft picks next couple draft pools.

Being able to cover back/wing(?)/fwd is handy too
Imagine if Stack went away, got super fit and added some proper size in the gym and came back as a straight-up bull midfielder. He'd destroy campaigners.

Think Stack deserves another year/contract. Hopefully what Jon Ralph reported is correct. Seems to be very close to our best 22 and clearly has the talent.

Way off our best 22 - not so much in theory, but practice.
Thirty players or more played more games than S. Stack tis season and some of them are named Aarts and Castagna.
A bunch of them he has more talent than played more e or a similar amount of games.
He was barely a consideration.

He has the talent to play at this level so I say give him another contract so he can earn his spot in our starting squad as Id hate to see him flourish at another club

Not according to Dimma in an interview less than a month ago.

If he puts his head down tail up and keeps his nose clean he could easily become our x-factor

I’m a big fan of this kids talent
LOL
The whole few lines from Dimma that most on here bought hook, line and sinker and wrongly intimated Stack would have been in the line-up had he not gone to WA for a funeral.
Better fiction than Enid Blyton.
A simple week later Stack was nowhere to be seen, nor was he even close in our first final.
He was never going to play against Hawthorn, be he in WA or in Richmond.
Yet somehow was magically left out the next week against Essendon.

Exactly, he was ignored all season why would they play him at the death.
