It’s still probably Kamala Harris. Reports are her polling is favourable, she could certainly mobilise women at the ballot box. The only other name that’s really been thrown up is Gavin Newsom, though I couldn’t speak to his electability.

A party’s policies aren’t defined by the race, gender or age of its leader. The message would still be the same, that Trump’s policies are abhorrent, that they present a safer pair of hands to guide the economy, diplomacy etc. They need to not overthink it.

Trump's policies are precisely targeting race (immigration), gender (abortion) and age (Biden's age).
Trump is a populist after all. These three things are gaining traction in the US.

I am not seeing major power brokers, within the Democratic Party, willing to bypass the first Black, female VP - who is leading the polls.

The Democratic Party tend to be more loyal than the Republicans.

A. Core party constituencies, who control the huge campaign fund, have stated they remain loyal to Harris (who has built up considerable goodwill).

B. Newsom and Whitmer not overly keen to be seen as leading the charge against someone who broke gender and racial barriers, forever marking them as disloyal in future Democratic primaries.
