Possibly it depends on how aggressively jaiswal and pant play (the former in particular) they are the 2 that can bat quick enough to chase it down.

But the draw would be my favourite here. I'm not sure Australia will have enough time to bowl them out and I'm not sure India are willing to risk losing to try and win it after tea tomorrow.
After tea will be their best shot at a win imo. If they make it there with Pant and Jadeja still in at worst and 100-150 to get, id back them in.

If they play it like they played the Gabba a few years ago they’ll walk it in. Start slow, keep wickets in hand and cash in with the old ball.

Went down to the G today. Can I just say the Indian supporters around us were the most disrespectful cricket fans I’ve ever sat next to. They’re also all totally bonkers.

Not only rude and arrogant but they have a very annoying habit of gathering in groups of 5-6 right in the middle of walkways during breaks…****ing nightmare.

The dynamic of the game becomes a bit different when there is a known target with a known number of overs remaining.

Pitch is not exactly a minefield with how our lower order batted, with the likes of Jaiswal, Pant and the fact that India’s batting order extends all the way down to 8 they will be going for the win tomorrow.
Test history says run rates slow over the course of a match. Not saying it can't be done but India will have to pull off one of the greatest chases of all time to win

I just briefly watched the highlights on the news.

6-99 was the score when Marnus was dropped in the slips.

Crucial.
Hopefully plays on Jaiswal's mind overnight...

For those arguing that they would prefer someone other than Webster be picked because he's an "all-rounder", or they would prefer a batsman be picked.

I've found the stats I did on his recent f-c form. Since the start of 21-22 Australian season:
38 matches
61 innings
12 no
2597 runs
53.00 average
6 hundreds
13 fifties

They are the figures of a batsman. The fact that he takes wickets as well doesn't detract from that.

They are the worst supporters in the world just look at twitter.
I went to the 2005 Ashes in England and the poms were brilliant great banter and then a pint afterwards always felt safe. Pakistan supporters are also brilliant love cricket but always respectful and welcoming the complete opposite to the Indians. I rather go to Pakistan to watch a game than India.

All cricket nations have good and bad supporters, including Australia.

Besides, Sydney is flat and Cummins will be in his 5th straight test, you need the bowling option and not a part time offie. Even more crucial if they play Starc.

Indias attack will be interesting, Bumrah is clearly feeling it with short spells today.

I don't go on Twitter, but I have found that they are extremely easy to wind up from reading cricinfo comments.

Not that I would wind them up myself of course...........

With Webster, you also get a part-time offie.

Win-win. :)

He's the only option as an all rounder at the moment given the injuries to Hardie, Sutherland and Edwards this season. Hardie's selection in Aussie white ball teams has denied him first class cricket this year to push his case and then he strained a quad recently. If any of those three were injury free and in form they might get the nod ahead of Webster given their youth despite Webster's good couple of seasons

Look if their top 4 gets going it's irrelevant as they would have chased 300 or 400 in that circumstance.
But if they lose a few wickets early and then finish 7 down late in the day that's when we will regret not going harder tonight and having the extra 10-15 overs. Jadeja in particular is the type who is likely to just block for a draw.

But with starc and Marsh cooked Cummins probably felt he couldn't risk it.
The last sentence probably sums up much of their thinking, but also putting more miles in Bumrahs legs.

If we can’t bowl them out in a day then we weren’t winning regardless, as we aren’t far enough ahead.

I raise you this bad boy i have never got ridden of! Made 100 with it off 37 balls back in the day in our local 1 day turf comp! **** it has some power!

Your post made me dive into to the garage to find it! 🤣

Cost me $500 that ****er in 1999 bit sheesh it was heavy and powerful.
You'll have to come out of retirement after that effort if your not playing 😆

True but that's why they should have dropped Marsh for Webster so we had better bats and 5 bowlers tomorrow.
The bumrah point is valid but it becomes moot if it rains for half the Sydney test.

Me I would have tried to get to a 300 lead as quickly as possible (no boland go slow) and immediately declared and had 5-10 overs at them tonight. I think it's better to go for the kill now and not wait for Sydney. But I accept there's differing opinions on that.

Extended day, you'll still get that.

Bumrah was struggling to get in to bowl in the last, first mortality hes shown all series. You don't reckon make him go through it again for even just a few, with Sydney just around the corner?

If Brisbane is any indication (in that hour we batted on in day 3), India aren't likely to use Bumrah tomorrow.
