1. Draw: India retain BGT
2. India win: win/retain BGT
3. Australia win: Series alive with 1 test to go

India DGAF about the first 2 imo, just avoid no.3

Bat for time for them

A draw doesn't equate to India retaining the BGT - it means the series is still live going into Sydney, with an Aussie win the meaning they win the BGT

Watching these two batting lineups going head to head has been amazing.

Often closing up shop is the worst option
Depends on the batter.

Pujara was a wall when he used to do this and could do it for days. Jadeja isn't as good but he can do it.

My point was I would be staggered if they send out pant next as he doesn't block it will probably be ravi.

late yesterday, Langer was waffling on that Sharma and Kohli were steeling themselves for a big innings, he could "feel" it

Tim Lane merely minutes ago was commenting on how determined and focused Kohli was, ready for a big one.

Sharma 9
Kohli 5

India 3/33
Brilliant reverse psychology from Tim, pretending to be objective but in reality using his position for the good of Australia.

Hasn't he only scored one in like three years?
He reminds me of Gatting at the end, getting a ton in the Ashes in 91 but getting out for not much the rest of the time.

94-95*

Adelaide from memory, came out and actually played shots for the first time in seemingly years (still took ages to score his hundred but he at least found the boundary) and then disappeared with Gooch into retirement after the fifth test. Another player Warne and McGrath basically ruined

Arjuna Ranatunga has entered the chat
I remember Mahatma Coat being interviewed one day. He was asked about why so few young batsmen were being produced in Pakistan. He replied, "Because Inzamam ate them."

Yeah blokes like them and Dravid etc have the concentration levels to bore us all to death and save the game. I think i remember Dravid being 9 off 89 balls or something one day. His tactic seemed to be waiting for the bowler to die of old age to win

I haven't bothered checking how the world test championship is actually calculated but could all opponents be worth 1.0?

So if you play them in five tests over that period and have 2 wins, 2 losses and a draw you get 0.4 and your opponent gets 0.4.

If you play a team in one test and win you get 1.0

If you don't play against a team you both get 0.0

Means that it doesn't matter whether you play some teams more often than others, plus incentivises stronger nations to at least schedule something in against the developing teams. Maybe it's already like that...?
