Gutless umpiring. The knee roll has always been the guide. Front leg, close. Back leg, out.
It hit above the knee roll though.

In fairness, it seemed to be an extended discussion between the Aussies before committing to the review. Although that may have just been because Cummins and co. could see what was about to unfold.

I would say that the burnt review does have SOME value though. Having seen the review, surely if there's a similar instance of a battery getting trapped in front as the day continues, it's more likely to be given out on the field by the umpire?
Not burnt, retained.

Even if top of bail, it looks less than 50% to me (but hard to tell exactly) based on the white lines (that I drew myself) below. Still think this should be out and the 50% rule is a bit dumb in this situation when it is 3/4 inside leg stump, and hitting half a bail. That should be enough.

How are you getting screen shots?

Where you've drawn that line is clearly below the top of the bail and it looks like >50% under your line, to my eye, which would consititute an over-rule of the umpire's decision if I had my way of using the "top of the bail"... but yeah, I agree the rule could do with a bit of tweaking when it comes to the umpire's call zone for height.

I've seen Australia get lucky over the years - it just happens. Cricket like all sports....any team needs a bit of luck.
Yes I know your stance on these matters.

Every nation has good and bad supporters.

Every team gets good and bad luck.

Etc etc. People are still allowed to comment on what they see. Australia have been unlucky today and that can be pointed out without needing to recall historical lucky incidents.

If that according to the technology is umpires call and outside of the margin of error, then the technology is stuffed and shouldn’t be used.

Wilson doesn't want to be guilty of burning us again. He'll probably give the next 50/50.
