Yeah struggling on a slow low wicket

Lyon average again

It’s an issue we can’t bowl teams out on the last day . If this is a draw we need to do something different Indians comfortable against our bowling unit

We need to roll the dice next test to get the 20 poles marsh will go and everyone says Webster I say stuff that be bold and bring in a genuine bowler we need wickets bring in jhye Carey to bat six
Our batting's too shit for that sadly.

Starcy's PR department is working overtime today to try and hide the scent of his first innings pies.

You'd think the bloke was single-handedly storming the beaches on Normandy with one leg, not producing match figures at this point of 1-110.

Maybe let's hold off building him a statue because of his little ouchies unless he can contribute to us winning.
Starcy might of been with the airborne division.Who parachuted in the night b4 D-Day.And secured the bridges.

The first couple of overs looked good, then he started coming over the ball again.

The pace is good, but he just doesn’t trust himself to side spin the ball and maintain accuracy.

I’d be giving Marn or Smith leggies a go. 2 or 3, there’s some rough from each end to work with.

Surely he hasn’t told Marny to bowl medium pace tripe. Please tell me I’m wrong. And then why not then, “No Marny, leggies please”

Pat appears way more interested in not losing than winning.

Which really goes against the grain with me at least, and I doubt I’m alone.

I do agree with the whole play to win idea. But I guarantee you the same people slating Cummins for playing it safe now would be slating him again if we were brave and lost

love to see webster come in bat at 8 and cooper connolly in at 6. just sets us up long term and for sri lanka, won't happen sadly

Connolly isn’t ready just yet not for a decider. Webster at 8 is what you do if you are 2-1 up not needing a win. Webster for Marsh simple

India were never going for the win unless we declared earlier yesterday.

This is their best way to retain the trophy.

We need a terrorising fast bowler at one end.
You can walk in any section today.
Was in the Atrium Collingwood section.
Security saw my Tiger cap and went straight for me to not stand in the area I was lol
Even though there were 50 others doing it
Played his grand final.

Apparently everyone knows how to captain Test matches. It's a wonder the XI isn't populated solely by Bigfooty keyboard warriors.

Gutless by both teams TBH

  • Cummins could have easily declared last night and have a crack at the openers for 10 overs.
  • India batted like they wanted a draw from the first ball of today.
1. Which would have given Australia no more time to bowl India out, but would have reduced the target. Only increases the chance of losing without increasing the chance of winning. The "tough ten minutes" comes into play when you already have a target that won't be chased down batting normally. 330 in a day is easily achievable batting normally oij the modern game on a pitch showing little wear. Unless the chasing team loses a few wickets in quick succession early on and have to go into the shell more than normal. I thought they may have declared overnight, but those few runs and overs lifted the required rate enough (assuming minimum overs or less) to make it not easy for India.

2. They lost a few wickets in quick succession early on and had to go into the shell more than normal; with the bowling being tight before that. I think India started out playing to see if they would be set up to chase the target or not, lost those wickets and had to solidify. Now they have a base again, it might be too much.

The guy who took 6-50 and bowled unchanged for an entire session for Pakistan bowls the same speed as Mitchell Marsh. Not really sure why it matters.
It matters if you have no other attributes to your bowling ie swing, cutters, lift.

That Starc non decision changed everything IMO. Had good momentum this morning…all lost now. Bowling with the older ball totally non threatening. Lyon must be near the end. Bowland ineffective. Will be interesting to see how India approach it after tea. Think they might go for it till a wicket falls. Nothing to lose as we arent getting 7 wickets

Boland only bowls about 6kph quicker and he's the greatest bowler of all time according to many on here

There has only been one successful run chase at the G, with a target over 300 and that was in 1928. It was a blunder to not put them in late yesterday, or at least declare overnight. A draw is a India win.

yeh na drop in pitches came in what 30 years ago ? pitches are way better then back into 1928, it's day 5 and not many have spun

Oh right, it's been turning all game?
It certainly did a bit for the Indian spinners when they slowed it down.

I’m no Lyon hater, but he just bowled flat and quick in the first dig and never even tried to slow it down and turn it.

Doing the same thing over and over gets you the same result usually.

There are times when accuracy is great for a spinner. But sometimes you’ve actually gotta try to spin it.

Which is what he’s trying to do now, but he just comes over the ball too much as opposed to across it. It works most of the time for him but I think this is a side spin deck, not an over spin one. And Nathan doesn’t trust his accuracy enough to bowl with more side spin.

Fair enough, you bowl to your strength.

I wouldn’t be giving him any more than 10 of the remaining overs. I’d be trying Trav and the leggies.
Particularly the leggies to the lefties.
