They need to bring back the hotspot, it would have been clear as day.

Hotspot isn’t as reliable as real time Snicko plus it’s ultra expensive and it’s unrealistic for smaller nations to afford the 200k per test or whatever it is per test to run it.

I think it ultimately came down to which batter made the most idiotic decision at the worst time.

That's kind of what defined the game - a bunch of batters getting out to a rubbish shots and a couple of star innings from the few guys that actually put some value on their wicket.

And it's what decided the game when Pant didn't put any value on his. I was listening to ABC on the radio, Sunny Gavaskar lost his mind, and rightfully so.

I thought a draw was most likely, but the pitch was getting harder to bat on, and tail Enders just trying to survive can often lead to disaster. Honestly, I thought India were very lucky to only be 3 down at lunch, and absolutely flat out jammy to make it to tea 3 down. You can ride your luck, but eventually it deserts everyone.

I think it rolled off the splice near the “G” on his bat sticker. You can see it on slow motion side on. Only explanation I can think of for not registering on snicko. A flick of a glove or edge will make a noise that would be picked up.

It was mentioned during the Perth or Adelaide test that both countries had agreed to not use hotspot this series due to its unreliability & cost - that discussion came up after another DRS situation where commentators thought it may have had a role to play if available
