I think it ultimately came down to which batter made the most idiotic decision at the worst time.

That's kind of what defined the game - a bunch of batters getting out to a rubbish shots and a couple of star innings from the few guys that actually put some value on their wicket.

And it's what decided the game when Pant didn't put any value on his. I was listening to ABC on the radio, Sunny Gavaskar lost his mind, and rightfully so.
You rarely walk off the ground, thinking “well that was far too good for me. I don’t belong at this level.” It is poor technique, concentration, at that instance, that normally brings about your dismissal.

You never resort to blaming the umpire, certainly not implying that he cheated.

So snicko didn’t pick it up because it was glove or is it just not very reliable?

It’s the most reliable just a rare instance where it didn’t. You can clearly see the deviation anyway and as Taufell said on TV any deviation overrides anything so it’s out every third umpire would give it

I heard Ch 9 own the rights to hotspot technology hence why it’s not used since Ch 7 got the tv rights

Doubt it as it’s been used overseas, it’s just not that reliable as it relies on heat and what not. The real time Snicko is the most accurate by far not perfect but most accurate

Didn’t see the end but heard it.

Pretty fair result after the dominance overall in the last two tests, Australia have won most of the critical moments when the games have been in the balance and even when they haven’t actually grabbed them themselves, they’ve held their nerve better anyway (see Pant, Rishabh, and Jaiswal, Yashasvi). India were always chasing this game even when they got themselves to the one moment of genuine parity with Australia 6-down and a lead of 195 or whatever it was, it would still be a come from behind win had India pulled it off.

They need to throw caution to the wind in Sydney and attack from the outset and try and get on top early as Australia are showing they are too good to try and run down once they get well on top. Good win Aussies and well deserved MOTM Cummins

Any news about a replacement for Inglis yet?

Doubt they need one but they may get Handscomb around the squad or someone they are thinking about in regards to Sri Lanka. Someone like that

Just on this continued reference to sandpaper that opposition supporters like to throw at us.

Yes, it was wrong. No doubt about that, and yes, the players should have been suspended. However, what annoys me is every cricket nation has been guilty of ball tampering over the years, Faf Du Plessis guilty twice, but the only cricket nation who has had the balls to stand up and suspend players was Australia.

Cricket fans who have been around as long as I have may recall the days when India had a dearth of pace bowlers and their attacks used to consist of a couple of batsmen who would bowl a couple of overs of pace, and four quality spinners. They would get the new ball and continually rub it into the dirt to scuff up one side.

I never heard people complaining about ball tampering in those days.

It's interesting to me how they capitulated late, after Jaiswal's wicket. Sundar refused to force strike, as though he didn't care or knew they didn't rate him. Bumrah was pissed off about something in the dugout; the most unshakable, affable bloke in cricket, and he sitting there staring off into the distance as though he knew they were done. The way both Jaiswal and Akash refused to accept the third umpire's decision.

There's something going on there, behind the scenes. Something isn't right with the Indian camp, something that was fine prior to the series and was fine right up until today.

Funny thing about pugnacious coaches, they put pressure on you to live up to the attitude. All the meanness and pettiness in the world won't save you if you can't put it on the park.

They beat us with Rahane offering a bat to Nathan Lyon with all of their signatures to celebrate his 100th test. They refused to surrender, that there was a hole too deep to dig their way out of; today, they ****ing gave us the test, with more or less the precise same players.

We'll see how they take the park in Sydney, but something stinks.

The funny thing about that is we threw our players under the bus more than anyone else would

I don't think it's as deep as you're making it out to be. Their batting has been frail all series - they lucked into superb batting conditions in Perth but every other innings they've basically collapsed.

Let's face it without Bumrah it would be 3 or 4 zip.

I think it rolled off the splice near the “G” on his bat sticker. You can see it on slow motion side on. Only explanation I can think of for not registering on snicko. A flick of a glove or edge will make a noise that would be picked up.
Spoke to some Indians outside the ground and they were not pleased. The cheer when snicko didnt show up was deafening, so it made a great day even better

Time people moved on from sandpapergate. It was not a good thing to happen, but it's been dealt with and in the past. Time to move on.

I'm not talking about just their batting, not really. Add to it all Ashwin's retirement, and you've got essentially a similar situation to Aust under Langer: a split playing group unwilling to back the coach.

I don't have much evidence beyond what's on display before us, but they're not the resolute, willing to play their way opponent that rolled us twice on our own patch. They're trying to force it, and it's only because Bumrah is who he is that this is as close as it's been.

I reckon things have been bubbling along in the Indian camp for most of the series. But what exactly i don't know.

They don't look united at times.

If the ball didnt deviate then fair enough. I dont think the umpire could ignore the deflection. How do you explain it otherwise?

Hats off to the 3rd umpire for having the stones to call it.
