You'd hope not, but has Richardson played much cricket lately? That's probably the only thing weighing on selectors' minds.
We need to replace Marsh too. Zampa a smokey on a turning SCG pitch?

Yes, he’s played a shield game, multiple second XI games, grade cricket and white ball games. CA have been managing his workload for this very reason. Has bowled uninterrupted for almost 12 months now.

Zampa isn’t in the top 5 FC spin options.

The BCCI and the IPL as we know loom large over indian cricket and world cricket in general....and there influence is massive both positively and negative

Indian cricket while strong is in a period of transition. They have an ageing team ....Ashwin already retired midway through a series...Sharma/Kohli/jadeja getting on they have some interesting decisions to make in the near future

They have found a player in Reddy but I was concerned with india A's batting in the tour games ..going to be interesting to see how they rejuvenate the side
All 3 are past it, especially Rohit who has been horrible for a long time , atleast Ashwin knew his time was up and did the right thing for india.

I know we won but surely Mitch Marsh can’t be in the team for the fifth test. They can’t be ruthless on a guy like McSweeney and just let Marsh continue to underperform.
I think we'll pick both Marsh and Starc for the 5th test and cross our fingers

Feel a bit lost this morning after those 5 incredible days!
Similar feeling to the day after the GF at the end of footy season…
Was a truly great test. Crowds - incredible, outfield - carpet, weather - pretty perfect bar half a session, pitch - good enough, was worried early in day 4 but it did enough on day 5. Result - lovely.

I would like to see some past india cricketers call it out ...instead of sunni whingeing all the time

reckon there is some issues going on with indian cricket atm..older players the establishment etc
Roebuck would always talk about the Mumbai Mafia when it came to influence on selection, discussion etc.
We have no conception of the hold this sport has on over a billion people, the immense money, power, prestige, corruption etc.
Then roll in the history of Indian diversity, Hindu caste system and the institutionalised discrimination, plus a huge sense of entitlement, ego, and standing in Indian society, and there is indeed something unfathomable for an Australian who takes sport seriously but it's not life and death, where it literally can be on the subcontinent.

It’s very risky given Starc looks very sore and Marsh can barely get out of a canter. Feel like we did the same last time India toured and we lost the last test at the Gabba. Time to bring in fresh bodies IMO.

Its going to be interesting and I think it comes down to the fitness of starc.

Previously we have gone in to the last test with our bowlers not 100% and we have struggled ....starc record in the the last tests of series fit/or not drops off thats a fact...are they going to roll the dice and risk that again??

Starc is obviously in some discomfort ....he requires a jab to get through...playing him is a risk if the selectors pick him. We took a risk with hazelwood and got burnt this series will they risk it again with a bowler not 100%

Geez the embarrassment.

Hey I know nobody likes losing and the game is like a religion over there but try and show a little dignity.

Solid reasons

It's Joel Wilson, I mean, there's a solid reason right there.
Cummins was immediately reviewing, no questioning, no dithering, straight to the review, that was compelling, they all knew it was an edge. If Snicko showed even the slightest movement, none of us are talking about this.

Watching the last hour back.. let's not underestimate how good the captaincy was to put Konstas under the lid right at the arse end. He fielded on the fence for the majority of both innings but Cummins had the presence of mind to remember that this kid had them absolutely rattled on day one.. let's see if he can rattle them again but in a very different way. I've got no doubt that his presence and chirp up close contributed to a couple of those late wickets. Brilliant captaincy.

Any comment from the BCCI about Kohli's behaviour? No? Didn't think so. Any comment about Jaiswal's LBW? No? Didn't think so. Any comment that over 5 days Australia were the better team and won by a whopping 184 runs? No? Didn't think so. It's the kind of comment we've come to expect from BCCI.

some clueless peanut on here was trying to tell me intent and some verbal wouldn't upset the Indians because they are so hard edged..Yet a 19 year old on debut clearly rattled them :drunk:

There was a period of play when Jaiswal was batting where his only intent was to hit Konstas instead of saving the game

The same clueless peanut who has apparently forgotten more about the game than I will ever know

Cricket fans are more appreciative of opposition achievements for the most part. When Reddy got his ton you had to be pretty cold hearted not be absolutely delighted for him, when someone tears apart Hawthorn I don't care if they move like Nijinsky, they can get f***ed.

Mark me as cold hearted then, as during the game, I derive no enjoyment from opposition teams or players.

Pre birth?

Pre conception.

Astonishingly I just read a quote from Andrew McDonald about Marsh. “ Yeah he hasn’t scored the runs he would have liked but he’s up and about”. Which is code for he’ll keep his place. Not so astonishing really. Big fat boys club is much harder to get in than out of - especially when your name is Marsh. Travesty if he keeps his spot. Series average of 10. If you take out his knock of 47, his average is 4.5.
