Well the top 3 made 230 which hasn’t happened in a while. Can’t remember there being too many play and misses after Konstas and runs have been flowing pretty easily until someone does something stupid (Pant).

Usually a good sign that the pitch is very true and you’re basically just sending them down hoping the batsmen has a brain fade

I'm not denying that it's been more of a batsman's pitch. But I also think the bowlers in general haven't performed well.

Some Aussie players who had been building form managed to deliver at the same time (just swap Ussie for Head), alongside a kid who served up something different.

With the night watchman they've pushed down from 7 and 8. I'd suggest both are more batting all rounders than bowling all rounders, especially Reddy who bowls little more than mediums and will probably spend the majority of his Test career at six

You can’t trust the MCG pitch. It completely changes every year. Minefield one year then a flatter year. Five day draw then two day test match. Surely we can at least ask our curators to be consistent.

There will likely be a result this match (just). But you can’t have a ground in your home country where you can’t consistently have at least a minimal advantage
