Most of the people questioning Bumrah's action only have a passing interest in cricket. All the cricket people I know feel there's nothing at all wrong with his action.
Wrong, they understand that a) hyperextension of 46 degrees requires resistance to achieve even in EDS sufferers. Air doesn't offer that kind of resistance, a brick wall does. And b) if they have to change the law to say you're not chucking it, then you're chucking it.

So every bowler except Ramnaresh Sarwan was a chucker.

Good to know

We needed to bowl great to win tomorrow regardless. Having them 1 for 30 overnight while chasing 300 wouldn't have changed that.

At least now we have some protection and India have to really go for it (the carrot is still there for them) if they want to close the series by the end of this Test.

They don't need to win they just need to not lose.

We need to win.

We need to not lose actually.

There are a few stupid things to assume:

1. That it is unrealistic to hope to bowl India out in 90ish overs.

2. That a draw tomorrow means the series is over.

3. That setting a 270-300 target (from where we were 7 wickets down) and 5-12 overs bowling to India on day 4 was a gamble automatically worth taking.

As long as nobody makes any of those 3 assumptions then they have a good cricket brain. It in no way guarantees a win tomorrow, but people pretending they had a perfect alternative plan is as cringeworthy as it gets.

So veteran TV and radio sports host Ian Maurice and Sri Lankan cricket journalist Daniel Alexander must be some of the exceptions you had in mind when you said 'most' instead of 'all'.

It's how this forum works.

Those wanting the declaration would have been the first to complain if India walked off 0/20.

Watched the highlights and Cummins looks tired and Starc has a niggle. It may have been discussed behind closed doors and maybe the team thought it wasn't worth going out to bowl 4-5 overs to drain more energy.

Border-Gavaskar is inconsequential. Only this matters.

Avoid losing here or in Sydney then beat SL away and the spot is ours.
We're ahead of India atm who don't play anymore tests after Sydney. Staying ahead then doing the business in SL is all that matters.

We simply must not lose. First priority. If we can win then bonus.

How are India even in the hunt after losing to NZ 3-0 at home

Beating India puts distance between us and then and should mean we don't need to beat Sri Lanka 2-0.

333 is still a difficult chase, I'm confident we can get the win tomorrow.

Couldn’t even get 70 If he had 4 innings
Bring in Beau Webster. Last summer 2023/24, he averaged 58 with the bat in the Sheffield Shield while he took 30 wickets at 29. They appear to be the recent performances of a true all-rounder. Goodnight & good luck.

Not who you're replying to but I've been following cricket since roughly 1993 and have never heard of those campaigners. May as well start naming your family members as well.

I'm sorry but that wikipedia article is terrible. The accommodation to 15 degrees was sparked by Murali being called again in 2004. That's the Murali 'rule'.

This can be in its own thread.
Not relevant to the match.

I feel like an excited school kid waiting to go on an excursion to the cricket, can't wait to get there today. Sun's already out, not a cloud in the sky, the day is looking like a cracker.
