Is there another spin bowling all rounder kicking around in the Shield?

Chris Green is one that has good all-round numbers but the thought of him playing test cricket would even make his own family members sick.

So happy Beau Webster got picked. Feel like it's one of those selections where it doesn't really matter how he goes as he has a baggy green for life. Very well deserved. Interested to see if he can pick up any wickets, I've never rated his bowling but he just takes wickets.

A small sample size for sure.
But he has shown already he's up for it.

Made a 90 on debut in the Shield Final.
Got the Scorchers over the line in the BBL final.

Take him on the tour and give him a taste IMO.

He isn’t ready. But wouldn’t hurt to have him travel with the team and run the drinks to motivate him.

I agree it probably won't move, that doesn't mean it isn't stupid. If the product is constantly being ruined by weather moving it to a typically drier time is just common sense.

It makes zero sense for the people who live here thankfully it won’t change

He had a good 23/24 but has been bog average this year. His selection is favoured due to the beige selection options currently, but he shouldn’t kid himself, there are dozens upon dozens of far superior cricketers who never played a test because the bar was where is should be to get a baggy.

In regards to his performance not mattering because he has a baggy, what a complete uneducated croc of shit. If he doesn’t perform he can be jeered at with the likes of Quiney, Hastings et al for being undeserving of Australian crickets highest achievement.

you can play a third spinner in SL- we are playing at least 2, it’s just whether we play 3 or just the 2.
If you want three spinners it can be Lyon, Murphy and Head/Smith. I would have full confidence in all four of them to perform well.

Plenty of spin options in the squad without bringing in Webster who is no guarantee to succeed at test level.

Averaging 50 with the bat has an unbeaten 46 and and unbeaten 61 against India a this year as well... He has been good to start this year after a great year last year.

You continue potting a guy you admitted to not knowing much about.

People need to stop talking about Smith as a test much bowler of any kind... He is not even a part timer these days.

Smith will not bowl forget that idea. Head will bowl he’ll be the 4th or 3rd option. Webster is a good option until Green is fit in conditions we need variety in our structure. Whether you like it or not we aren’t picking a slow no6 who can’t bowl at 6.

Sorry, I should have said 'Test' career. I have now edited my post.
Cummins just being diplomatic.

Marsh is cooked for red ball, but still handy for white ball.

I don't class him as an allrounder at all.

He's a bat that can bowl.
Maybe like Trav Head.
Yeah, that's the point... can't classify Connolly as a red ball allrounder yet either.

We hardly use the all rounder as a bowler, nearly better off selecting a batsman and getting a few overs out of Head. Especially if it's going to spin a little. Maybe a few overs from Smith and Labuschagne.

Gee we went for years with no all rounder and bowing Lehman and Mark Waugh. Head pretty much bowls the same stuff as Lehmann and Lehmann used to get plenty of overs and take the odd wicket.

You didn't need an all rounder with Warne in your team.

True. Lyon is pretty good. We are lucky to have a good spinner in the side currently. He hasn't been required to bowl a lot this series but he may be used a bit more in this test. If Sydney is going to be spin friendly, even just a little, I'd be planning on giving Head and Smith the ball instead of an allrounder. Batting is our weakness. We have been damn lucky Smith has come back into form and Head had a couple of decent innings. The rest haven't don'e much.

That’s what we thought in Perth

Small issue of Lyon isn’t Warne who rolled teams in the 4th innings. Lyon is good but let’s not pretend he’s going to roll teams. Smith doesn’t bowl anymore
