If they lose the series, maybe they'll stop whinging about DRS and consider their own complete dearth of leadership. They're a shit show.

Win this series and the argument can be made that this is a great Australian Test team. Lose and it's a very good Test team that could have been great. An Australian win is the most likely result from this Test.

Not a great side until you WIN a series in India/England. Key word being win not retain. It’s a good to very good side not great side regardless of the result

Rohit should have opted out of this whole test series.

He hasn't looked like he wants to be here and wasn't here for the first test which is the only test that India have won this series.

India's chances of winning this test improve without carrying Rohit just like Australia's chances improve without carrying Marsh.

It seems the happy clappers are out in force praising the selectors for their 'bravery' in kicking a guy playing like a complete spud out of the team.

But they are missing that this is still the boy's club in action, there's just a heirarchy. They need cover for the fact that they are picking a tired, injured bowler who played poorly last match and has a terrible record at this ground. The motivation to drop Marsh is in part to play Starc at all costs.

Of course Starc may ultimately take some wickets, as this useless Indian batting order might trip themselves up trying to feast on his pies and he can always rattle the tail. But given the current situation, it seems a ridiculous call to play him.

No it’s not worth changing the date- do you realise how important this test is for fundraising alone? You are cutting off half the crowd by playing it when the majority are working. At least in the new year a vast majority are still on holidays.
Sydney has a population well over 4m. Are you saying that the need holidays to fill that stadium?

Yeah, I mean beating a side coming off a whitewash series loss at their home at your home suddenly makes you a great side? It's some weird logic.

Pretty sure that would mean Cummins would have a 1-4 series record, including two home defeats, vs India. And it's not like the other team mainstays in Smith, Lyon, Starc, Hazlewood haven't played in a home series victory vs India before, it's just that they have a poor record against them.

I don't see how a home series victory against a particularly weak Indian side does much for their legacy.

Pies?

He beat the bat more than any of our other bowlers in India's second innings, swinging it prodigiously.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has reportedly “opted out” of the SCG Test in a bizarre end to the selection drama heading into the Border-Gavaskar Trophy finale.

Calm down, Alyssa. Starcy already has his very own Order of White Knights on here that will charge in at any moment to defend their man's honour, so you don't need to log in yourself.

He had match figures of 1-111, with the one wicket being from a clearly out of form player throwing his wicket away. You're going to die on that hill?

You think playing an injured player coming off 4 consectutive tests, the last of which was those figures, who has an average of 45 at the SCG is a prudent selection decision?

Wow

Kohli calls the shots I think. Anyway bring it.

So not conceding runs when the opposition is playing for a draw is good bowling? With his ****ed up back, 90% of balls were unplayable, but in a white ball game would have been wides…

1 wicket for the game for the teams no2 bowler and people think he bowled well, gee the bar is set low for some…

I wouldn't play Starc this test with a whiff of injury in the air but I reckon the 2nd innings in the last test was the best and most consistently he has bowled in years, including innings where he has taken miracle wickets but then given a ton of freebies.
