It's fantasticWhether you love or despise what happened near the close of play, it's yet another reason why you can't take your eyes off this series for one moment. Today's crowd at the SCG was the biggest day one crowd there since 1976: everyone is loving the combative way these two teams keep coming back at each other. I'm just a little sad that this is the final Test.
Cannot agree. He was within his rights to complain that he was ready to bowl and the batsman wasn't. There's too much of that in cricket.Bumrah should be fined for that.
Can't target a batsman like that let alone the non striker
If that’s the case, Kohli, Warner, Faf, Broad, etc etc etc - basically any ‘villain’ you can name from the last 20 years and before that as well - has lived ‘rent free’ in the head of their arch rivals whether they’re winning/performing or not.
He got involved in a minor dispute between the batsman and the bowler that didn’t have anything to do with him - maybe just to try and chew up time but either way it had nothing to do with him - and got told by Bumrah to basically f**k off and stay out of it based on what the footage showed. Two balls later the world’s premier fast bowler takes a wicket. Of course he’s going to turn and give it to someone he perceives as a lippy little smart arse.
Do you think Shane Warne wouldn’t have done the same?
Yeah that too. Khawaja was just a sitting duck. It was oh so predictable.no i think it's more likely khawaja failed again this series
I think he will for the rest of the season, given how Kwahja is done, and Konstas is very talented but inexperienced so there’s still a role there available before a spot opens up in the middle order. Will be interesting to see if McSweeney starts opening when the Shield games resume
Gee, he’s only has 31 wickets this tour.I can't believe we've fired Bumrah up.
He was playing terribly until now. Imagine when he tries though.
Bumrah was ready to bowl, Khawaja was deliberately time wasting, Bumrah appealed to the umpire, Konstas became involved… he just needs to focus on batting not get involvef in bullshit - it backfired spectacularlyNot sure about that. Bumrah started carrying on like a pork chop when Khawaja pulled out. Konstas probably should have done nothing, but he didn't do much except shrug at Bumrah. Bumrah then walking at Konstas (who wouldn't have a bar of that, and rightfully so) is what really instigated it to me.
Konstas seems like an annoying prick, but Bumrah acted like a grade A w***er in all of that. Which is weird, because I've never seen him behave like that.
What has he done? He has had some fun and a little bit of cheek?Konstas is Stuart Broad and Michael Clarke rolled into one, potentially hated by both own country and opposition.
They're lucky Konstas had a level head in Melbourne and didn't swing the bat at Kohli.Absolutely pathetic from the Indian captain. And we all know there will be no punishment and the Indians will keep thinking they can carry on like this. And this is the sort of stuff that trickles down to lower grades and ends with a bat being swung at somebody.
Bumrah was 5/32 over his career vs Khawaja prior to this inningsBlame Konstas for that wicket. It was never gonna end well with a fired up Bumrah.
I'd say Kohli put a target on Konstas' back given this whole chain of events came from his Byron Pickett impression. It brought heat on India and they have looked like cracking at times. So they're rattled. He's putting a target on his back for every team in the world now where he doesn't have to. That might work for him but I hope he can back it up
I can't believe we've fired Bumrah up.
He was playing terribly until now. Imagine when he tries though.
It’s usually smart, but not in this scenario. Bumrah rushing his last two deliveries doesn’t get that wicket. They wasted a little time like everyone in world cricket... They got 9 balls down to 3. It was smart cricket, the issue was Ussie playing a full ball on the back foot again.
If I were Kurtis Patterson I'd be getting in Greg Shipperd's ear about opening for NSW.I'm just so pissed with Khawaja like why are you playing so far back in the crease on the last bloody ball.
It's time for him to go
apparently people on this board would walk every time they're given not out, never give lip to an opponent, and sit back in judgement if their opponent tried to have a crack. What has he done? He has had some fun and a little bit of cheek?
It is honestly insane how quick people are to beat any personality out of any athlete. FMD people are miserable.
Confirmed, your a ****wit.
41.10 Batter wasting time
41.10.1 It is unfair for a batter to waste time. In normal circumstances, the striker should always be ready to take strike when the bowler is ready to start his/her run-up.
41.10.2 Should either batter waste time by failing to meet this requirement, or in any other way, the following procedure shall be adopted. At the first instance, either before the bowler starts his/her run-up or when the ball becomes dead, as appropriate, the umpire shall
- warn both batters and indicate that this is a first and final warning. This warning shall apply throughout the innings. The umpire shall so inform each incoming batter.
- inform the other umpire of what has occurred. - inform the captain of the fielding side and, as soon as practicable, the captain of the batting side of what has occurred.
41.10.3 If there is any further time wasting by any batter in that innings, the umpire shall, at the appropriate time while the ball is dead
- award 5 Penalty runs to the fielding side.
- inform the other umpire of the reason for this action.
- inform the other batter, the captain of the fielding side and, as soon as practicable, the captain of the batting side of what has occurred.
The umpires together shall report the occurrence as soon as possible after the match to the Executive of the offending side and to any Governing Body responsible for the match, who shall take such action as is considered appropriate against the captain, any other individuals concerned and, if appropriate, the team.
India has too much ego and not enough leadership. Could you imagine Cummins doing that to anyone?Great stuff from Konstas. Has Bumrah absolutely rattled
