I don’t understand why Kohli is so mad at Konstas.

Sam has said publicly that Kohli is his favourite player.

One would think that Kohli would be happy that a young player would be a fan and seek to emulate his aggressive, cocky attitude. 🤷‍♂️
They want to target the younger player
It's consistent most sporting sides

Try that shit in the old Willy Comp and you'd have a bat to the head or a stump in the back

Just ask anyone from Newport Digman, Gellibrand, Willy CYMS, Willy Colts, Willy Imps, Laverton, St Pauls, Hoppers Crossing, Grand United, Marby Park, Werribee Centrals, Willy Baseballers, Newport Baseballers, Willy RSL, West Newport etc - ALL involved at various times in some of the most violent all in brawls ever seen on the planet.

Didn’t mind the last over antics today from either side. Adds to this series’ legacy. Can’t wait for the first ball tomorrow!
But I genuinely believe we are edging very close to physical reactionary violence/retaliation at some point soon, given how it continues to escalate.

A normal person would be pretty tempted to involve their bat when you have 11 people unexpectedly come running up screaming at you.
Kohli genuinely looked like his tiny frame was about to try and run through Konstas.

Imagine the professional victims if Sam had of fended off Kohli in that moment and made contact with him..

It's not far away..

It just needs very firm umpiring reaction supported by referees

The BCCI will never accept punishment of their cricketers

CA prob not better albeit with less histrionics

Konstas was being a smartass.
... what part of reverse ramping the best bowler in the world for multiple sixes on test debut suggested to you that Konstas was not a smartarse?

How you bat is frequently illustrative of who you are.

For example, I'd expect you, Aristotle, to be a stodgy no.8 who is able to hold up an end while others do all the work while after the match making much of playing your role.

I knew you'd be and up about, Alyssa.

Starcy's last game, 1-111: 'bUt hE aCkShuaLlY bOwLed WeLl'

This game: 'I'll focus on the figures and just ignore all the pies he bowled and how he looked like a serious potential liability if not for facing a shitty, collapsing side on a green wicket.'

Nobody doubted he could potentially jag some wickets. The gamble has barely paid off so far. Let's wait to see if that holds in innings 2.

🥴

Konstas is rent free in Kohli’s head.
Confident brash young people usually do take up more of people’s attention, not always for the right reasons.

they’re happy with that and that’s ok, but they shouldn’t be upset when others aren’t happy.

Which up and comers have risen from those ranks and become world beaters in recent times ?

First time I ever saw Pat Cummins & Travis Head was in the Big Bash. Cummins was still in high school. Head was cutting a swathe in the Big Bash & I thought to myself at the time, we've found our next number 3. Didn't happen as fast I was expecting, but the guy now wins man of the match & man of the series more than any of our players.

While another great day of test cricket, I really want to see how Konstas goes in the next IPL auction
If he gets picked up in the IPL has there ever been a player in the IPL that gets booed by his own team’s fans?

One of the things that I was reminded of, and definitely struck me at the ground on Monday (it feels so long ago already!) was the exertion that goes into every delivery, in all aspects of it, from the long run up, through the delivery stride, and he has the most exertion in his follow through of any bowler I've ever seen. Massive heart.

Why did Konstas need to get involved? He had no business getting involved and simply should of said nothing. Simple as that.
Why?

Why does Konstas have no business getting involved???

Just because most batters don't sledge doesn't mean they shouldn't or can't. He's allowed to talk, allowed to get involved with the game however he ****ing wants.

The whole 'Konstas shouldn't have said anything' side of this is ****ing stupid. I certainly wouldn't be revving up Bumrah - his pace and attention was way down, but get him angry and lo and behold he takes a wicket (albeit a walking one) within two balls - with sledging, but there is absolutely nothing wrong or against the rules or even against propriety or general wisdom with anything Konstas did today verbally. Quite literally, the only 'wrong' thing was Bumrah turning around and walking at him; the verbal Bumrah gave is more than fine - it's not a sendoff as he didn't dismiss Konstas - but moving towards him could be seen as intimidatory/aggressive behaviour.

But no, this thread is talking about the verbal as though that's the ****ing problem.

I really do despair about the cricket literacy of the common punter sometimes.
