It's pretty easy to have a houlier than thou attitude when Australia always get away with it as they have over the years...
(I mean less than 10 years ago - the Australian team thought it was fine to literally take sandpaper on to the field to tamper with the ball - that's pretty brazen)

Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh were the first players recorded to match fix (in England) - no penalty
vs
Mohammad Amir - jailed (in England) at age 19 for spot fixing

Mark Waugh and Shane Warne received money from bookmakers - no penalty
vs
Hansie Cronje receives money from bookmakers - banned from cricket for life

Glenn McGrath calling Sanath Jayasuriya a Black Monkey
[Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/cricket/2665599.stm - this claim is published in a book in Australia - Glenn McGrath denied it of course and threatened legal action but never actually took it of course (probably because it actually did happen) and the book continued to be published in Australia]

Underarm incident

Steve Waugh's mental disintegration

---

I don't think the Indian behaviour on this tour is worse than any of the above - aside from Kohli shoulder barging Konstas which was disgraceful - but again probably not any worse than what Lillee did to Miandad in Perth...

I agree with you. I don't think the behaviour of the Indian players on this tour has been bad at all. Kohli acted pretty poorly and has been called out, fair enough, move on. Aside from that all I see is a team under the pump with extreme pressure from the media & public of a huge cricket loving nation.

But your post is a lot of bizarre and random cherry picking of incidents that highlights your bias more than anything.

Please don't compare Hansie Cronje to anyone else in world cricket, not Mark Waugh & Shane Warne, not Chris Cairns. No one. It's not even close.

No, I’m saying Bumrah is the captain and let himself down…I’d be scathing of Cummins if he’d behaved like that…the double standards in world cricket are appalling

Really? God forbid professional sportsmen show emotion. Do you remember Ponting swearing and carrying along after he got run out by the sub fielder in the ashes?

This is a brilliant series - no one can accuse either side of caring about IPL contracts. passion is a great thing the only thing which I haven’t liked was Kholi’s bump but again I’ve seen that at least 5-6 times over my time - so not unheard of - I mean Warne grabbed at Marlon Samuel’s shirt whilst being micd on fox!

I’d like to think we are in a better position - but 100% India won that little battle at the end of the day - Khawaja stupidly tried to waste time plus Konstas little beef probably impacted Khawaja’s concentration. Bumarah too good

The bbl and Sheffield Shirld are bush league comps compared to the rest of the worlds domestic leagues
terrible take

At what point does BCCI come out and tell their psychotic fanbase to stop with this utter filth? Happens every time they play a team, their fans are genuinely out of control on social media.

This is the sort of fandom that ‘The Ugly Indians’ inspire

Australia went through decades of being utter coats on the field and Cummins helped us see we’re better off without it…we’ve built a different culture but India currently don’t have the leadership structures to help them make the same journey

Bumrah did exactly what I'd hope an Aussie bowler would do on that situation. The only one handling it poorly was Khawaja with his limp dick defensive effort. That combined with him cuddling Kohli when he went the shoulder charge is enough to get rid of him. Move on if you're unable or unwilling to put up a fight for your teammates.

Why?

Why does Konstas have no business getting involved???

Just because most batters don't sledge doesn't mean they shouldn't or can't. He's allowed to talk, allowed to get involved with the game however he ****ing wants.

The whole 'Konstas shouldn't have said anything' side of this is ****ing stupid. I certainly wouldn't be revving up Bumrah - his pace and attention was way down, but get him angry and lo and behold he takes a wicket (albeit a walking one) within two balls - with sledging, but there is absolutely nothing wrong or against the rules or even against propriety or general wisdom with anything Konstas did today verbally. Quite literally, the only 'wrong' thing was Bumrah turning around and walking at him; the verbal Bumrah gave is more than fine - it's not a sendoff as he didn't dismiss Konstas - but moving towards him could be seen as intimidatory/aggressive behaviour.

But no, this thread is talking about the verbal as though that's the ****ing problem.

I really do despair about the cricket literacy of the common punter sometimes.

It’s not a question of cricket literacy, it’s a question of hyperpartisanship and trolling

I think it’s pretty obvious why you don’t like Usman

I reckon they have the same proportion of NQR posters that any country does. It's just that it's a very very very large country population wise lol. No different from how many psychotic posters the big AFL sides seem to have on big footy. It's all proportionate.

As per the The Grade Cricketer podcast tonight:

“If your defence against murder is ‘what about all the other murders?’ Then you’re in big trouble”

Excusing the behaviour of this current bunch of Indian coats because of something that happened literally 3 decades ago is morally repugnant
I’d say that the examples I outlined were far more morally repugnant - even if some of them were 3 decades ago (presumably your implication is that because it took place that long ago suddenly makes it ok I suppose…
”murder is still murder even if it happened 30 years ago” - wonder if The Grade Cricketer will quote that next episode…)

India's culture of petulant behavior can be traced back to Sourav Ganguly. Absolute c**khead – and i've witnessed it personally (https://m.rediff.com/cricket/2001/mar/22fais.htm) – but it's no coincidence however that this also coincided with the beginning of their winning culture.

ps in reference to the article, how's the gaslighting by the team manager Chetan Chauhan :D

Possibly, but having quite literally 75000 comments on Konstas latest Instagram post saying Virat is ur father and that he needs to be Phil Hughes'd because he belted Bumrah for a couple of boundaries is a level of unhinged I'm yet to come across from any other countries supporters.

You just demonstrated my point
