The nonsense about he's only 19 is just ageist, he's in the Test team and he's an adult. He doesn't need a ICC approved Sledging Licence (although maybe the BCCI will want one in the future).

By same rights the pearl clutching from some saying the India can't clap back because he's only 19 are just hypocrites.

It's like when Ginnivan ran his mouth before the final vs Port Adelaide (which is fine, whatever) and then the Hawks and Sam Mitchell had a sook when they lost and Hinkley returned serve.

If you're on the field in any sport you're fair game. You always read here blokes crying after afl games cause there was a big hit on a teenager and they should go after someone their own size 😂 **** that. You're job is to win and if you can slow the influence of someone by being overly physical or mentally aggressive then that's your job. If they can't handle that, then they aren't ready

The Konstas criticism feels overblown. It's not like he randomly picked a verbal fight with Bumrah, it was a situation where a) Bumrah started it and was having a go at Konstas' teammate and b) they were also trying to waste time to ensure it'd be the last over.

The only person who should be criticised is Khawaja. It could have been a near perfect day (minus some dropped catches) but him getting out on the last ball will give India hope. I think we need to move on if he fails in the second dig.

Yeah really agree with this take. Khawaja & Konstas got what they wanted in ensuring it was the last over, Khawaja just let himself down in seeing the over off.

Gotta say im surprised that the Indian series has taken over from the last ashes tour. Its bonkers in here which means we're getting some great cricket!

Unlike India they don’t fold like a cheap tent when playing here and look we all love to win but we also love a contest first and foremost

Is there any more hypocritical nation in the world than India 😂. Cried about the way the Aussies sledged them for decades, we've finally become a team of overly nice blokes and they have been sledging and sending off blokes all summer.

Start ripping into I say, makes it more interesting

Who is overly nice in this Australian team?

how does a 19 yo get into the heads of these professionals so easily?
Because their behaviour is anything BUT professional. Not all of them, but a core of them. They believe themselves to be bigger than the game and nothing they do can be faulted.

I don’t know how many of you lot have dealt with high caste Indians before but, as a sweeping generalisation, they are the most self centred arrogant assholes you’ll ever encounter.

They do NOT like to be verbally challenged at ALL.

And they are most definitely never wrong.

How many of the current Indian team fall into the category of high caste?

I thought there was a lot of rags to riches stories in this team.

i still haven't made my mind up on this. One thing i will say, i dont reckon he's earned his place quite yet to be orchestrating the Merv Hughes crowd moves. But as i said before he's the Jack Ginnivan of cricket – he just doesn't give a shit.

I don't all the talk esspecially in this series.

Where he will get the public off side will be if he keeps it up when we are flogging a team like the Windies or Pakistan.

Sad state of affairs for Indian cricket if experienced players like Kohli and Bumrah are going after a 19 year old kid
Why do people care so much? It's all part of the drama, Bumrah has basically carried them on his shoulders, Konstas was winding him up and he strikes the very next ball of course he's going to go to him and give him some our players would do the exact same.

It's not a formalised class or caste system we have here, it's a little more insidious and we prefer not to talk about lest our egalitarian reputation be tarred but private schools are unsurprisingly providing a lot of our cricketers.

Khawaja I can give you. The rest I can't see any of them being above and beyond overly nice.

Aren't they just run of the mill average sport star neutral?
Sure thing.
They're all extremely nice and don't do anything to ruffle feathers.

Wouldn't some of this be distorted by the fact that elite private schools "claim" promising young sportspeople with scholarships and such?

I remember this being the case for AFL - claims about "they all attend elite private schools" was not because they were blue-blood toffs but because they received scholarships to go there.
