Smith trying to show us that footwork is overrated with that lofted cover drive (if you could call it that)
Smith does everything wrong from a technique point of view, and always has. His judgement and preparation are incredible though so it works for him.

How’s the movement. Unplayable
3 day test coming up? It's not going to get much easier. Wicket so green the ball stays close to new for 3x longer

Correct - definitely too late to correct it based on the previous result.

Was it India who switched pitches very last minute for a game recently? Not sure if it was the World Cup or something else. That type of approach may have made sense (but we don't tend to do that morally here unlike India would).

You can trash a pitch inside of 3 days based on a previous result if you need to.

But if you're preparing a 3.5 day pitch because it always rains in Sydney, you absolutely cannot turn that into a road within 3 days, cos the curators have been preparing that test pitch since the footy season finished.

... yes, I do. I've played rather a lot of turf cricket mate, and I've seen pitches go from roads to minefields and vice versa in that time.

Are you seriously comparing a test pitch that's been in preparation for 3 months with the pitch at your local ground that the groundsman desperately tries to cobble together on a week-to-week basis?

Doesn't sound like you could manage the grass in your own backyard, let alone on a cricket pitch.

I'm not sure about that. Uzzie maybe, but Labs has made three important 50s this series and Smith has made two tonnes.

Konstas can attack for sure, but he's far from a finished product (which is a given due to his age).

Nah, labs has been ****in horrible. Avging 28 for the series is not good enough.

Australia has 3 people avging 30 or more.....Carey on 31 Smith on 41 and Head on 51. Not counting Konstas

Everyone else is 28 or lower.

There is zero doubt about it that our batting is horrendous, and has been that way for years now.

smith looking to score is a thing of beauty. Pre-sand paper and 2019 ashes he batted at a run rate similar to Australia in that 2000-2007 period.

I don’t know if it was his form which dictated his slowness but definitely batted very slow for a couple of years - I think his partnership with Marnus had something to do with it.

But if he starts moving things along again - we are in for a treat
