Maybe nostalgia is all hitting us, but we were spoiled by the depth of batting during the golden generation (mid 90s - mid 2000s). Didnt know how good we had it. But then again it is a worldwide trend these days, averages generally down barring a few generational talents here or there.

Anyone over thirty five grew up watching some of the most breath taking cricket you could ever see and anything after that is going to look a bit pedestrian. It hasn't helped that almost all of those teams have ended up in the media where they love to remind us how good they were.

We were that great i'd get pissed off when Martyn would come in and make a easy on the eye 60 or something as usual because i was waiting for Gilly to tear the oppo a new arseh*le.
