Hated to be a spinner this series. Bar a couple of spells they barely touched the ball. Hence neither bowled great as they weren't getting the continuity needed to fall into their line and length automatically. Lyon's last session in Melbourne and the first innings here were the only time he looked like his normal self.

Pitches didn't really deteriorate, did they?

I don't recall seeing the footmark wear and tear that Warne used to use on day 5

It is a great series win but we're still asking a lot of the same questions as we had at the start of the summer IMO. What do we do with these aging top order bats that aren't scoring. Can we seriously take Khawaja, Marnus and Smith into next summer? Can our selectors grow the stones and rotate our quicks during next summers Ashes? Do we need to develop another spinner to repalce Lyon.

Out of interest, but do people regard this as a key match? Seems to be a lesser thing than Border Gavaskar and the Ashes
It is a key match in isolation, but does not have the history or emotion of a 4-5 match series against our two biggest rivals. You get a whole season of ups and downs (or all ups lately when hosting the Ashes) in those series.

Given you are crowned the world champions and it pays off the previous years work, I'd put it next in line behind those though.

If Labuschange can’t get out of this funk that’s been 2+ years now then potentially Green replaces him at 3 and Webster stays at 6.

Green typically made runs at 4.
If he is at 3 we probably don’t bowl him much at all, which may be the case anyway to prevent injuries.

Would be ok with Patterson, McSweeney, Cartwright etc battling it out for 3, and Green replaces Smith.

Something like

Konstas
Hunt
One of the above
Green
Head
Webster

As the top 6

Great series.

Had plenty of intrigue with the back and forth momentum, the bowler friendly conditions, Bumrah masterclass, the Konstas/Indian antics.

Unfortunate/fortunate end with the injury to Bumrah giving us the edge in this test.

I expect most on this board to be sweating and rocking up and down like a junkie withdrawing by this time tomorrow.
It has started earlier for some ...

At least there are a few long-form videos on YouTube of McDonald's Cup and Mercantile Mutual Cup games to enjoy before the 1st Test in Sri Lanka starts on the 29th.

Interesting to see who we've got lining up for us in the test squad in 10 or so years.

Sam Konstas - Needs to have half of Green's patience
Cam Green - Needs to have half of Konstas aggression
Nathan McSweeney - Just not opening the batting
Cooper Connolly - looks pretty good in shield and BBL but untested at test level thus far

Todd Murphy - Lyon replacement
Spencer Johnson - Looks the natural Starc replacement
Lance Morris - Not sure if he's got the skill for Red Ball, has the pace but doesn't move the ball much

Not sure on many others but I reckon we'll see a bit of this lot over the next 3-4 years as some of the old timers start being phased out

Enjoyed the posting on here this summer. Alot more humour amongst us and not as much of "you're a ****ing moron" (which I can occasionally be guilty of)....hahaha. Made alot of fun being on.

Same group of people generally posting for years so we are more familiar with each other. More like a group sitting around having a beer at the pub watching the cricket.

Because she is so far from neutral.

Figured you must've been making a joke using that word.
No, I was asking what a neutral should have done in that position, as I reckon a neutral wouldn't want 5 wides in that situation

Sorry Brett Lee, I disagree. Hazelwood should be made to earn his spot in the Test team. Scott Boland has done more than enough to be a regular in Australia's Test team.

Boland has a Test average that Hazlewood could only dream of.

Even if it blew out five runs per wicket, he’d still have him covered.
