You still didnt reply to my main argument that the game was already over by day 2. No Aussie crowd would have atmosphere if we were getting belted the same way.

Also my point is 31k & 32K are still solid crowds and would create an atmosphere if the game was closer.

that's because it doesn't matter if the game was over by day 2.

Day 1 the crowd was half the capacity.

The crowd wasn't good and the atmosphere was bad from the first ball. It didn't matter what India did after that. It was never good to become bad. It was only bad.

No other test, even during working week had that bad attendance. Adelaide was full and still in full work and school term.

just admit you lot don't show up.

Sam Konstas.
He might burn as brightly as Peter Toohey (for those old enough to remember) but unless he tightens his technique he will burn out even faster.

His first Test innings must draw comparisons with David Hookes and his debut in the Centenary Test. Hookes, while a phenon at Shield level never transferred his results to Test level. Lack of footwork was his greatest downfall particularly against spin and seam away from Australia.

Sri Lanka will be an interesting watch.

Webster on the other hand looks to have a technique of getting forward or back as appropriate, and doesn't get caught on the crease. He might be very handy in the subcontinent with a solid technique and ability to bowl seam up and spin.

Exciting times.

Rubbish speculation. He is 19 years old, does that mean he stays in the side forever? No of course not. He will get dropped at some point just like the 100's of Aussie batsmen before him.

Also, you're comparing a 19 yo to a 31 yo cricketer who has been in the system a decade, so of course the mature player is going to have better technique FFS.

Scorchers got 41K the other day still a long way off capacity, atmosphere is built on the game not by the number.

Dave Warner loved it, even mentioned it. You're talking out of your backside.

ahh so your only talking favourable outcomes that back up your one-sided BS beliefs?

Got it.

👍

31K is a good enough crowd to create atmosphere if the game is decent enough, especially at Optus. Youve never been so you just don't understand.

no i said you had a rubbish crowd to the test match, i didn't say anything about the big bash lol. Which is a completely separate thing.

your in the wrong thread man....

Not at all this is a cricket thread is it not? We get decent crowds, could they be better absolutely. However, the way you're carrying on you'd think we got about 10k. My point still stands the atmosphere (which you alluded to in your prior post) was shit because the game was very onesided.

Oh look an eastern stater coming from a place of privilege whingeing about the Perth crowds..nothing changes

Few points:
  1. The Perth Crowds where up this year thats good and will be again for next year for the Ashes
  2. You think taking away the test from Perth is going to increase the crowds for the future of WA cricket ? How is that going to work if you are not promoting the game ??
  3. The Perth test is being played during the working period. We don't have the opportunity that you do of having the test played on a public holiday everyear for the last 30 odd years and continuing during the time when people who work and students have time off .......if you want the crowds to increase I guarantee if its played on Boxing Day it would be packed .....but we have not been given that opportunity like you privilege lot do and who just take it for granted year after year ...and then have the arrogance to have a go at other cities crowds...you guys have it pretty good show some respect
  4. Honestly how does it affect you the size of the Perth crowd?....you own a TV ..the Perth test is great viewing for the eastern states public after work...the tv networks love it
Finally if you feel so bad about Perth crowds and think it should be stripped...why not come over for the weekend and increase the crowd size ?? Perth stadium is fantastic..Perth is a great city and the south west has a lot to offer
Most All of these excuses are invalid.

no, you get shit test crowds. If the MCG had 50k to Boxing day id say that was a shit crowd too. but it didnt. It sold out.

The fact you are bringing up big bash just proves my point lol. I didn't suggest relocating the Perth scorchers to Tassia did i rofl.

Anyways it is what it is as too much money from the TV deal will change it, hopefully Perth can sell out the Ashes next year.

The match wasn't one sided for the entire 5 days. But the crowds were sh!t for the entire five days.

That's the conclusion I came to looking at it from afar, it looks great for footy but not much chop for the jolly old cricket.
There is the tradition and nostalgia aspect. I was a late convert but having seen cricket at Burswood it is worth it.

Still feel a little tainted typing that...

Warner is no brain surgeon, but Konstas is a snag short of a barbie if ever there was one. (Undisciplined) He's a long way from being Australia's opening batting answer and has a lot to learn, i was a fan until that 2nd innings. These two upcoming Tests against Sri Lanka can either make him or break him.
That’s a fairly large amount of hyperbole even for this board.

You chop and change your argument, you were talking about atmosphere, now you're talking about capacity. Capacity isn't atmosphere.

2) We should sacrifice a good atmosphere just so you can build interest? lol?

4) The crowd atmosphere filters through the TV and adds to the specifical. Perth was rubbish.

The only thing keeping the test in Perth is the TV time for EST states, and even then, I'd rather it go to Tassie. It's far better a spectacle than Perth. The rest of that waffle you posted is complete hogwash.

That’s a fairly large amount of hyperbole even for this board.
Imagine this board in the mid 1980s when a draw against New Zealand was the highlight of the summer.

The Konstas criticism is so annoying. As soon as someone shows some flair every single mistake they make is attributed to them being immature and reckless (even if they score better/more than pretty much any other opening bat of the series).

The rush to push any big personality down is so weird. It's like people don't actually want to be entertained. We want heroes but we also want them to stay inside very specific set of guidelines
Completely agree, although there’s a post right above this trying to compare Bumrahs ball bowled to a series in the 70’s, so it’s not just younger players the grumpy old men get grumpy about

yes, it largely is.

The fuller the stadium the more the noise revibrates around, and how it also looks on TV.

I'd take a sold-out Bellerive at 20k over a half full Optus at 30k any day of the week.

anyways the fact you dont know this just further proves it.

Ill leave it there amigo.

If India was 0/172 on day 2 in Tassie and lead by 218 runs, yep you're right that 20k would be rocking.

Yeah but thirty thousand is objectively more than twenty thousand. You’re basically telling ten thousand people to eat shit so you can have a more pleasant TV watching by experience.

Ha ha probably true, although there’s a lot of rose glass in the rearview mirror for those days here.
Not from me, we were undeniably shit and it was terrible watching cricket for a while.

Did you actually watch the match? when India was bowled out 1st innings the place was up and about even with just 31k. Easy to look back in hindsight and say the game lacked atmosphere when it had fizzled out by the 2nd day.

Yet, I'm the slow one? LOL
They want to have a parochial moan, facts aren't important, best to simply ignore.
