Ricky Dyson deserved another year for his goal from the boundary Anzac Day 2009 lol

Ricky Dyson deserved another year because of the solid form he showed in the year he was delisted.

Takes a long time for perceptions to change. There was nothing wrong with Dyson's last 40 or so games.

He played some really good games in the back pocket/half back. Surprised he wasn't at least rookie listed somewhere else. He was the type of player Port would have gone for in the late 90s or early 2000s who would come back to bite us.

He is the last decision on the list for mine. If we can find a genuine 3rd ruckman (which Shaun is not) than I would not hesitate to delist him.

There were plenty wrong. Hence why he got delisted and no one picked him up for free.
He played his most consistent footy of his 8 years in his last year and lost his spot in the side through injury and not poor form. I have seen plenty of guys get delisted over the last few decades and for mine he is probably the stiffest. He played over 100 AFL games Kelvin.

As mentioned earlier, if the club have got in early with the op, is it safe to assume he is staying and they are giving him every chance to have a proper uninterrupted pre season and one last crack at it?

No, they give players the medical attention they need even if they're about to be delisted.

So Mckernan has survived it seems.
At least the VFL side has a good goal kicking key position player.

If we dump Smack, we need another rookie ruckman.

He's not a star, but he can play some good footy, and offers depth as both a ruck and a forward.

Yeah he is just frustrating as he is too good for VFL but hasn't been good enough at AFL level.
He is a backup forward who can pinch hit ruck.
I'd like an actual 200cm+ backup ruckman, Mckernan does his best but against good ruckman gets taken apart.

This guy is so frustrating. There is no obvious reason for why he can't succeed at AFL level. When he manages to get on the end of it, you see him lead up and clunk it, turn around on a dime and deliver a laser-beam pass directly to a team mate inside 50. Then he is unseen for a whole quarter.. What's the deal?

His last three games of 2015 were great iirc, but this year he was poor. I get the feeling that he just doesn't want it enough.

Think that ultimately he is a quality ruckman in a mid-sized KPP players body. If he was a genuine 200cm+ he's be a great number 1 ruck who is more than dangerous enough resting forward for no more than 30% of game time.

Given his size the ratios needs to be reversed and he ultimately needs to be a KPF that can ruck a bit. He seems to have all of the attributes, and has shown real ability around the ball as a ruckman, but can't seem to convert it into quality performances as a forward.

If he was 200cm and played forward as well as he does he's be just another ruck who is only average forward. It's probably only his lack of size that creates the perception that he is or can be a forward.
