I dunno... I find it more annoying when everyone has a bye cause of state of origin. I always enjoy games where other teams play, I reckon I will actually enjoy a week without my team playing, cause it takes away the anxiety of whether they're gonna win or lose.
It'll be weird no doubt, and I'm not sure how the AFL will structure it as there are 17 teams but 22 rounds which is clearly uneven.
Good for keeping teams as fresh as possible.
Bad cause you don't get to watch you team each week, and the bye could help some teams more than others(eg a bye in rounds 1-5 is useless compared to later in the season).
However, just one year shouldn't be unbearable and I guess we'll have to cope anyway.

it would be 2... because by the end of the season u will end up with 6 teams with 2 byes and 11 teams with only 1 bye, so those teams with only 1 bye would have a rest in round 22 and the teams with 2 byes would play.
umm what?
it will be like the VFL has been for year, and the NRL was before last season.
one week you might only have one, another you might have 3 or so, and each club will recieve 2.

The rest will do the players good.
If you're team ain't playing then it would be a great opportunity to catch another game or support a local team not in the AFL such as VFL, SANFL or WAFL and so on. One bye doesn't mean it's the end of the world.

I'm not upset about having a bye in 2011. Doesn't worry me at all.

Wouldn't you think that with a Tassie bid alot more developed than the west Sydney, Tassie will be alot closer than West Sydney??
24 rounds, each club gets 2 byes. The middle round, say Round 12, can be a pseudo-mid season break with only 3 games. For the other 23 rounds, only one club has a bye = still 8 games.

I don't really care. We will all hate it at first but it would also give those players that need the rest a break from playing at the top level of footy.
I feel sorry for the team that gets the bye in round 1. Just means that they start their season a week later!
Should be reserved for whoever wins the premiership in 2010... make fans wait a week to see the team begin their defense.
The problem though, is that it severely disadvantages the team. As the players would already be fresh, whereas a team that has a bye in the middle of the year would welcome a break.

And you could make half the 6 teams playing in the mid-season "break" have their bye before the break and half after.

Just like the draft disadvantages teams that have preformed well. The least successful teams of 2010 should get their byes closest to mid-year 2011.

If this did happen I guess one of the GC byes would be Rivalry Round?
No chance, they'll play the Lions.
Maybe Sydney, or one of the Melbourne clubs with no fans.
