What’s this crap I’ve notice in this league at a goal kick the keeper passes to the defender only for the defender to pass it back to the keeper to clear the ball?
It gets worse all, the time. Wellington spent all Fridays game trying to concede from a calamity or just turned the ball over.

It's footballs version of the 3 point shot thats ruining the game - the incessant need to play the ball out against the press. 10 times more likely to stuff it up over creating a goal.

I was reading about Amini's impending dispute with the Glory over his release.

Why do Australian clubs keep doing this? Every time they sack a guy cos he isn't training as hard/as much as they'd like, they lose the arbitration and it ends up costing them more.

Like clockwork... it started nearly 20 years ago with one of our golden gen Socceroos Jason Culina, it's happened a handful of times since then (including Corey Brown getting his job back at the Roar). I can't think of a single example where the player filed a grievance over their release and they lost.

Have you just noticed what has been common practice for about 10 years?

By playing the ball short before passing back to the keeper it brings the opposition forward, creating pockets of space further up the field for teams to exploit.

I haven't noticed it in the A-League till this season and I've hardly watch any euro leagues the past five years other than highlight's. It doesn't really imo most of the time the keeper gets put under pressure and the ball gets distributed poorly out.

It's been common in the a league for ages too. Gauci was very good at it for us last season. It's been basically since they changed the rule around goal kicks.

Well I haven't noticed not to the extent that its been done this season were it happens pretty much at every goal kick, with Victory anyway and I don't think its working for us maybe Duncan isn't that good at distributing under that sort of pressure a couple of times last night he lost the ball and it nearly cost us.
