I believe an alternative way to giving Adelaide an NRL team would be to add them to a combined NSW Cup and Instust Super Cup. Split the combined league into two conferences (North and South), make the North Conference the current ISC with the addition of a Darwin team, and then in the South Conference add in an Adelaide team where getting an average attendance of 5000 would be acceptable to start with.

I'd totally get behind this and support an Adelaide NRL team!

The battle for junior development is gonna be a 50-100+ year thing. You don't wait for SA/WA to have sufficient internal junior leagues and structures before adding a team otherwise you'll be waiting 50-100+ years. But if you never put a team in SA/WA first then there'll never be fans and juniors wanting a structure in place.

Having a pro team allows the sport to thus grow at the grassroots. Like Swans in Sydney. Or Lions in Brisbane.

It's not a chicken-egg thing, but more like opening a new McDonalds franchise in places where there is no McDonalds in order to create a market and consumer base.

Also, it's about TV and corporate sponsorships anyway. Having a new team in SA right now would be the same as asking the Tigers to play all their home games in Adelaide, or arranging 12 Adelaide games to be played by all clubs every season.

It should be something the NRL already is doing quite frankly, doesn't have to be 12, but say 8 games every year in WA/SA if there is no expansion NRL team for them, just to prepare for it in the future.

The AFL did the same in Sydney when they kept bringing regular season games to Sydney for a number of years before the Swans ever relocated there.

I agree, they just need to field a team now and let it grow naturally.

I'm a Melbourne Storm fan but as a South Aussie I really want a team for us.

MLB = ABL [Philadelphia Phillies x Adelaide Giants]
NBA = NBL [Philadelphia 76ers x Adelaide 36ers]
NHL = AIHL [Philadelphia Flyers x Adelaide Avalanche]
MLS = A-League [Philadelphia Union x Adelaide United]
NFL = NRL [Phiiladelphia Eagles x ....................]

I need the NRL to give Adelaide a team so I can finally completed my alignment with US major leagues!
