Yeah at the end of the day you have to build a list that can compete for 23 rounds plus finals, even and especially when injuries hit. It may be masterful accounting to hide the shit in the footnotes, but it's not masterful list management to cherry pick the few good bits as evidence of success and ignore the rest. It's all starting to make sense now....................

talking about "a flag in 2-3 years" makes me very nervous that they plan to abandon the rebuild and blow all our cap space/draft picks on bringing in blokes like degoey and burn out having peaked at a 6th place finishThis is going to go well.
Should be sacrificed but he gets a pass because he has been half decent and not a total duck up and it was not his fault the Saga killed off his last build.
He's untouchable... I think I'm done with this club for awhile.Just posted this in the president thread but I guess it belongs here really.

Or is it the same code when the president of a club says the coach is safe mid season ?He's untouchable... I think I'm done with this club for awhile.

I hope you're right but it's the same stuff we hear about Adrian even when we're going (somewhat) well. I had no faith they'd have the balls to sack him before Brasher's interview with Whateley, this just confirmed my suspicions.Or is it the same code when the president of a club says the coach is safe mid season ?
Exciting in short term$1m a year for De Goey...come on down!!!
It has the potential to be hysterically funny.I think a De Goey signing would be the straw that broke the camel's back. I don't think I bring myself to support that guy.
Posting this in here as well, because it is relevant.
- Is our list management up to the standard of the best clubs? If not, how can this be rectified?
- Our coaching group, while good on paper, does not appear to be getting the most out of these players this year. Why?
- Is our development of players up to the mark, and if not, how can we lift this? Andy McGrath, the No.1 draft pick, is a case to ponder given his relative stagnation, compared to his perceived capability.
- Are there any cultural issues – deep-seated factors unique to Essendon (coterie groups, past players, messiah complex et al) – that hinder the club and team performance, even slightly?
with Menzie now we really only have the two crumbing small forwards.
I'm not putting heaps of criticism there, it was more "we have x amount of small/medium forwards and yet only 2 are genuine crumbers" sort of thingHard work when you have 2 x crumbing small forwards retire in the space of 6 months, and know you've got F/S potentials coming up.
The bigger midfielder hole is more of a place to have a dig at list management than a dearth of small forwards
