Pick #13 (matched): Isaac Kako - Small Forward, Calder Cannons
Pick #37: Kayle Gerreyn - Ruck/Forward, West Perth
Pick #39: Angus Clarke - Defender, Glenelg

Pick #70: Zak Johnson - Midfielder, Northern Knights
Pick #6 RD: Archer Day-Lewis - Forward, Bendigo Pioneers
Cat B Rookie: Jayden Nguyen - Defender, Calder Cannons

Love that for the most part all of our selections seem to already have some size (for their age), can kick, run and have a genuine competitive streak. Kind of insane to think that basically all four of these elements (arguably the key four elements of an AFL footballer) seem to have been ignored over recent years in favour of super skinny private school captains from good (aka wealthy) families.

wtf are you on about.

I'm just happy to cut the cancer out of OUR club. First time ever I've second guessed myself over renewing. I still did it BEFORE the club actually finally ****ed that campaigner off. I wish every one of our new boys the best of luck.
Discarding that prick feels like a win, sad I know.

As in Dodoro?

Surely its too early to say he was a cancer to the club. Its also said a whole lot now after hes left whereas it wasnt in his later time with the club. So i think thats simple bias showing

But surely we need to see what the club can do in the 5-6 years with the group that has just been drafted and the following year or two to come. Remember Dodoro never had a top 10 academy player, so hes already at a disadvantage

He had several top 10 picks.

yep, could be scary good or complete bust
Given they will also get a decent hit next year and probably the year after they really should rebound back to a good side. Not predicating multiple flags but they will get 15 to 20 top 30 picks in a three year period so the odds are with them as far as getting a good core group.

absolutely. People talk about the big winners this off season. Forget Richmond's draft haul, how they got said picks should be the reason they are graded as A++.

overpaying for Liam Baker, over paying for Jack Graham, overpaying for Daniel Rioli.

I wonder if Rotham is still of interest? I haven't heard about him in a while been linked to us.

So far, we will have Baldwin and Prior training for x2 spots we have available.
I wouldn't mind us having a look at Olli Hotton.

I see DGB is training at Carlton he may not be totally cooked.

I’d say Rotham was a direct replacement for Lav if he’d been traded. Lav didn’t net what we wanted so no Rotham.

Similarly if Jake was still here or we’d got that GWS mid/Forward Setters probably doesn’t have a contract.

I’d expect Prior to be locked in. That final spot is probably up for grabs if anyone stands out otherwise we keep it until the MSD

He had to lose important guns/cogs Saad and Daniher to get them, then had them all in a blind year

An academy player comes with atleast a 20% discount in comparison
So ? And he also had a number 1 in 2016 and two top 10 in the Parish draft.
He also had Daniher F/S.
Adrian was a good bloke. He was not the worst going around but was not in the top 6 or 7.
He had plenty of time. We failed again this year because the list is not up to it.

No real small fads were taken after Unwin (61) so probably a stab in the dark so late. Gerryn for me is the meh one. I wanted a definitive KOF, not a ruck/fwd that so many were. Is what it is. Johnston I like as a meat and potatoes type player. Being able to play anywhere has its benefits. Plug him in as a wing, or half back or even move him fwd.

Day - Wicks is my pick of the bunch. A marking medium/small forward with X factor is something we've been crying out for in some time. I know Perkins was meant to be that but doesn't have the swagger imho.

Overall, cant complain. Excited we've suck the youth path.
He was my most exciting pick (not including Kako) because I see him partner well with Caddy. I've long said we've had an aerial issue in the side because we don't take enough contested marks. Especially inside 50. He is also very agile/mobile for his size and is a good kick on both sides.

What I like about this draft is that we selected players that complement the list that we already have. Dodoro's issue wasn't really about picking AA caliber players. His issue was building a complementary list. Our deficiencies heading in:
Small forwards
KPF
Skills by foot
General speed in the side
Ball movement from defence

I think we've address all areas. It'll obviously take some time before we see results, but hopefully at least two or three selected players will become AFL standard players.

Dodoro had Jobe Watson who is still currently our best player since Hird. He also had Joe Daniher who under the current rules would have likely gone top 2. What more can a Vic list manager ask for? Many list managers would have turned that into a premiership and we couldn't even win a final.

He is definitely not at a disadvantage. I'm not sure if I'm missing your sarcasm or if this is genuinely what you believe.
