The fixture has been released for the 2024 NAB AFLW season, confirming the first ever 11-game season for the competition and marquee games galore for the Bombers.

Windy Hill will host Essendon's round one clash against Fremantle on August 31 during the AFL's pre-finals bye, the first of four fixtures at the club's spiritual home this season.

Among those will be a massive AFL Grand Final Eve matchup with Melbourne, headlining the public holiday at 'the Hill'.

The Bombers play two games in round six this season as part of 'Midweek Footy's return league-wide from rounds 4-7 this season, beginning with a Wednesday night clash against Sydney at Whitten Oval - the first of three games in a nine-day stretch.

Seven of Essendon's games in 2024 will be nationally broadcast on Channel 7, including a string of five games in a row from rounds 6-9.

As confirmed earlier, the Bombers will take on Richmond in the AFLW's inaugural 'Dreamtime in Darwin' at TIO Stadium in round nine, a significant occasion for both clubs and the competition broadly.

Well it all comes down to the last round. They shouldn’t need much motivation to beat that other mob. Destiny is in our hands. Go girls!

It’s a bit disheartening for me to see the lack of support on the girls this season on big footy. Warms my heart to see the windy hill crowds. I believe our biggest asset as a club is how much we support the red and black. I’m not pointing fingers at anyone and enjoyed efforts from Lore and so forth from the past when it came to aflw.

I always thought what an honour it would be to play for the red and the black and everyone who is born deserves that opportunity. I wish the girls the best I think a win would be a great boon but if not, two finals appearances from two years of inception is something to be proud of.

I think the biggest issue is that it gets cluttered in the main Essendon Board. I've been shot down for this before but I'll raise it again, we should have a sub board for Women's footy. Those who want to post about it can, and the rest don't have to go in there.

You know Eth. Every now and then you articulate yourself exceptionally well.
