Well this turned into an absolute blowout quickly.

Don't really see us getting much better any time soon.

Isn't Bowers like 32? Plus copping injuries now. I'm a little concerned I won't lie.
Yeah its looking bad

Will lose Antonio too, don't have anything coming in either

Eagles get the pick of the bunch every year too

Geez forgot about Antonio. She's 31, with Bowers, both turning 32 in the next 2 months. Both now copping injuries...

Our 2nd best player (behind Bowers) Tighe, is also 31 as well...

We could be heading into full blown rebuild soon.

****ing hell I never realised Tighe was that old. Thought she was mid 20s...

I’m confused why the afl has cordoned us out of the draft, we are s**t and they are forcing us to the bottom of the ladder so the Eagles can rise. It’s nuts how contrived the competition is.

It is a huge problem, so many compromised drafts and they can't force the women to move interstate because the pay isn't high enough. I think our earliest draft pick was pick 12, the 2018 draft before we came into the competition and there were only 10 teams, Geelong were given pick 1 and 2 from memory.

Our VFLW team has been raided heavily every year, I am happy for the women to have the shot to play AFLW but we have such a restricted access to the draft that we have had to bring in a number of irish players and Tasmanian players, we don't have a Tasmanian academy where we have priority access to them, I guess we just know them a fair bit better than other clubs given we help to develop them. I think we have lost the maximum number of players to new clubs since we came into the competition.

Kearney and Shierlaw are 34, Garner and King 29, at some stage we need to have some better access to the draft or teams are going to implode. I think what has kept us competitive is we have a pretty solid midfield, particularly on the inside, it isn't as flash on the outside.

it has required a lot of talent to form all these teams in the short-term, hopefully with the new CBA we can have a proper national competition and distribute the talent more evenly.

Don't know if Bowers is our best player at the moment. Definitely not if we're factoring in availability. There's a fair 30+ demographic across the AFLW though, so we're not necessarily outliers are far as that goes.

But in many ways, the result yesterday can clarify our short-term goals with this year a chance to fully reset with the first year under a new coach.

I wouldn't mind seeing a bit of some goers like Tuhakarana and Flynn brought into the midfield rotations for the rest of this season. It'd also be worth seeing how Roux might go off the halfback line as an interceptor. That'd give us a bit more potency in the air down there and simplifies getting into the play for Roxy.

... the reason there are so many WA players interstate is because they were paid extra to leave right back at the start.

If you compare the number of South Australian players not playing at Adelaide prior to Port showing up and the number of Western Australians not playing at Freo prior to West Coast you'll see why one of those sides has the powerhouse.

Kara Donnellan was one Victorian who didn't end up playing in Victoria.

That marquee signing money pillaged WA.
