Harking back to the season that should-have-been-but-wasn’t… I was speaking this morning with an ex North player who wa saying that the AFL/W did a zoom call with all the finalists from that year to get a ‘majority rules’ decision on whether to have a full final series or go straight to a Freo/North GF at Freo Oval.
No surprises that there were two clubs who wanted to go straight to a granny, and 6 clubs that wanted a full finals series. Majority ruled… nek minnut - season cancelled, no premiers

Why leave it upto the players to make that call? Obviously noone was going to give up their chance

It's such a kick in the guts.
Should have taken into account the shitness of the previous draft as well. Got noting for any of our players, Simply because the other team in the state is garbage.
It may as well be nothing really. From memory I think Franklin jumping ship was in a different window from the compensated one, but in reality how is her going any different from say Molloy going to Sydney?

Righto - team named for Round 7 and I'm really pleased that Tahleah Mulder has finally got a chance. However I can't get my head around dropping Tuks when we continue to play Cregg and Mulholland. As much as we are struggling at the moment team selection surely isn't helping.... my 2 cents....
Roxy, I can understand, but Tuks makes no sense to me. I'm sure the last we heard from Webb was a hint at the possibility she might be sent through the middle on occasion.
Feels like Webb is not treating winning games as a priority, which is probably not all that strange for a coach's first year. But I also feel like we can't expect too much of a jump (if any) next season, so I'm not sure what the thinking is.
From what I've seen Tux seems to be one of our best and collecting those ground balls cleanly. Cregg is probably our worst. How tf is tux dropped

It's just that they traded during the ridiculous overage draft
West coast didn't even bother with that draft, they traded their first and sat out, so it literally meant we got nothing for Franky if they were gonna sit out anyway

32 when she left I guess
It doesn't change the fact she was our best defender and a top 5 player at the club
(O'Driscoll would have overtaken her this year but still)

Ah so they did. Should've checked, had the impression she just walked. Which, because we couldn't hold her to a contract and the vagaries of the draft compromises, effectively it's what happened.
Yep, if she walked and got drafted from wce at pick 1 then its the same as them trading us pick 1 really
Hopefully they're prioritising Tuhakaraina's development. She has got top-flight written all over her.
Don't think we saw the best of Cregg the other day.
She has to be the most overrated AFLW player.
Worst part of all this is we’re still very likely to finish higher than WC this season (and next?), meaning second dip at the wa talent for the near future. This is why I reckon we’re screwed until a national draft (or de facto thereof) comes in.
Serena Gibbs? I reckon she has more of the "we'll get you in and if it works out, great, otherwise no biggie" vibe.
Not to mention WC are so bad they will probably get some concessions to push us further down the order. We really need to target a couple of their players.
