Did I read the article wrong? I thought her friend died and then she explored the possibility of a trade to WC, but decided to go to Port. Commentator said she was committed to going to WC, then her friend passed away, then she decided Port.

I had hoped Erin Phillips would kick their first, but Gemma is second best option. Good for her!

This is slightly off topic but... I watched a junior footy game and the Freo under 9s had a girl playing.

She was an absolute gun. Very good kicking technique with a strong chase down tackle and exceptional side step. IMO she is a chance of being the best female footballer in Aus when she is an adult.

The coach played her half back mostly which didn't allow her to get as much footy as the boys in the middle.

As a Freo zone player I wonder if she would fall into a category on draft night.

So why is Stephanie Cain playing for the Bombers again? I can somewhat understand the Duffy, Houghton, MacLachlan moves.

Yeah she just kind of snuck off didn’t she? Maybe because it happened quite early and she was ‘just an unknown Freo player’ the media never really took much notice. But she’s co-captain so she was obviously super highly rated for them to want her over there.

Georgia Gee would be above her I would think. And I reckon Bonnie Toogood also. But yeah, she’ll be getting paid a fair bit more now than she would have if she stayed at Freo.

You reckon? You’re probably right, but I think they might look at marketablilty as well as what they offer as players, which means Prespakis, Gee and Toogood would all be in the top tier(s). I’d say it’s a little bit like ‘Stephanie Who?’ in Melbourne.

Aside - Essendon look pretty good, they’ve recruited so well.

Harder to uproot someone across the country aswell though, the extra 17k in tier 1 vs 2 would have been handy to get her to commit

Brisbane have 14 players who have played over 25 games. We only have 6. I think we can still make finals but it makes it hard to compete with the top sides.
