If Turnbull was to win on Tuesday, what would his chances be if he called a snap election? My gut feeling is pretty good. It would give him a mandate, and a "legitimacy" in the eyes of those who don't understand the Westminster System. I'm not yet convinced people would vote the ALP back into power after just eighteen months and it may also rid the Liberals of the hard right elements in the party room, punished for the Abbott governments neo-liberal agenda.

Why this sort of crap goes on in unions all the time

Says you! Meanwhile Andrew Bolt's stunning prophetic analysis shows why he is Australia's most read columnist:

The truth is that Abbott has found himself left without a loyal base of conservatives. He offended conservative MPs not just by his mistakes and the rudeness of his chief of staff, but by tacking too far to the Left. Few conservative MPs or even commentators feel obliged to defend him with any passion - or at all. That is hurting him badly in this showdown with Turnbull. (emphasis added - must have been the cutting pensions, the deregulated higher education etc etc)

And Don Randall to second?

Given the WA involvement it's pretty surprising to see that Bishop is apparently backing Abbott
I got the feeling that PM during his press conference was more appealing to her to stand with him, rather than suggesting she was.

Great finish Simpkins. No one wants Labor back in ******* the country.
Youmadbro?

Suppose it's OUR fault the Coward's a campaigner and not his oldies ??

And so begins the narrative change. Called it:

this is all part of Tony Abbott trying to appeal too hard to leftists, which is the real problem with his government, and how we will frame it in future years when it is remembered as the worst government ever.
