How times have changed, we have just picked up a bloody good footballer by the looks of it in Kelly and still some are worried we have missed out on some junior footballers who we don’t even know can play the game yet.
Great day for the club today if Kelly deal is done. Everyone should be stoked in my opinion.
A very wise man once said:

the really dreadful losses of the past few years were realized...where the buyer forgot to ask "how much?"

Its early days, that I will admit, however next years draft will be as compromised a draft as we have EVER seen.
The number of F/S and academy NGA kids of high talent that will be coming off the board in the first two rounds will be unprecedented.
From memory the number of potential top 40 kids that will be bid on early is projected to be around the 18 mark.

Doggies themselves have three good prospects that they have dibs on, with Ugle-Hagan being a real gem.

At this stage its premature to assess what our pickings in next years draft will be until we get all the details ,of the current and future pick swaps that eventuate from the Kelly trade.

All we do know, for sure, is that we will retain our 2020 second rounder as thats not allowed to be traded.
Realistically that will be like a third rounder, in player quality, in a normal draft year.

Do we have any coming up this or next year?

I know that recruiters were worried about Riley’s lack of size for a midfielder. Add the knee injury, plus I’m not convinced he’d ace the interviews, could all together see him slide to our picks.

Fingers crossed!
Hopefully, as he was one of the best midfielders for mine at the Champs. He's got great energy, aggression, vision and disposal and would be the ideal developing young midfielder.

Could be a good pick with our later draft picks played 2nd fiddle to luke jackson in the u18 champs

DRAFT ANALYSIS: "A mobile, competitive ruck/forward who manages to have an impact all around the ground, and once he builds greater strength, can compete against stronger bodies."
CALLUM Jamieson is the prototype for the modern age ruck/forward. In short, he manages to fill every column of the stat sheet. While some big men understandably struggle below their knees, Jamieson’s mobility around the ground is a main strength, as is his ability to take a big mark in the forward arc.
Every young prospect keeps their fingers crossed hoping for a clean run at things in their draft year, and the 19 year-old could not have asked for better. Jamieson was a member of the WA Under 18s winning squad in the National Championships, and also won a premiership with Claremont in the WAFL Colts. The number of big games that the youngster has played in 2019 will be worth their weight in gold when recruiters assess the credentials of draft prospects.
STRENGTHS
Mobility
Athleticism
Adaptability
Big game experience
IMPROVEMENTS
Strength
Physicality
The North Beach youngster comes in at 200cm and will likely grow some more in the years ahead. He tips the scales at just over 80kg and with the position he plays, he will need to add some size to compete with the big rucks and defenders in the AFL. Despite his tall frame, Jamieson’s ability to outrun his opponents at the Colts level has been eye-catching and led to him winning the Tigers’ MVP award and being named in the WAFL Colts team of the year.
Jamieson had a excellent lead-in to his finals campaign where he had 20 disposals, 24 hit-outs and nine marks in the final round fixture against Swan Districts. That led to his standout game a week later in first semi final against West Perth where in slippery conditions Jamieson was in a class of his own. The big man amassed 28 disposals, six marks, six tackles 15 hitouts and three tackles. It was a performance that not only earned the Tigers a double chance, it put the big man well and truly on the map for the recruiters.
He followed that up in a losing performance against Peel in the second semi-final with 18 disposals, six marks and 26 hit-outs. Two weeks later in the Grand Final against the same opposition, he gave his midfielders silver service with 34 hitouts and his courage was on full show as he bounced back from a heavy hit to his shoulder in the last quarter to play a key role in the final stages of the match.
His stats during the National Under 18s was more modest mostly due to the fact that he was playing second fiddle to Luke Jackson in the ruck department. But his all-round capabilities were on show especially in the clash against Vic Country where he finished with 10 disposals, six hit-outs, four marks, three tackles and a goal.
Having a dual position player in your ranks has never been more valuable in modern day footy and Jamieson ticks plenty of boxes. Just like any tall prospect, he will be a work in progress, but fellow WA product Tim English has shown that you don’t have be built like Nic Naitanui or Shane Mumford to have a impact in the middle of the ground.
DRAFT RANGE: Third Round

It all makes sense now.
Our stand-in list manager is Scott Clayton. The same "genius" from the GC who traded pick 2 for Lachie Weller.
Shoot me.

Isn't Vozzo the man in charge?

Sometimes a club thats leaking players left right and centre has to do something that reverses the narrative.

Yes they paid overs but gc desperately need to show something other than players leaving and sometimes the only way to do that is paying overs

Duffield saying 14 + 24 + 33 + 2020 first rounder ......clubs are haggling over what Geelong give back we want 2020 second Geelong want 2020 3rd or 4th hopefully it's both .Geepers

I would hope it is 2020 2nd and their 3rd round this year.

Otherwise no pick 33 and nothing back (and no Steven for them, although surely 36 gets that done).

The value of the draft picks will not become apparent until a few years time. You can look at the draft prospects and say its a strong or weak draft, but you really dont know until the players establish themselves.
Like the judd trade, it might change over the years. IIRC most were saying we got screwed in the judd trade but with the development of kennedy, most now say we made out like bandits.
