Lance Franklin

Made his debut against Sydney at the SCG
Played his last finals match for Sydney
Played his last career match for Sydney at Marvel Stadium

First and last GFs he played in were against Geelong.

IMO there’s a pretty killer coincidence that was only missed by the smallest possible margin.

The only two players who participated in both the 2008 and 2022 GFs were Lance Franklin and Joel Selwood.

Career games -

Joel Selwood 355

Lance Franklin 354

FFS if only Buddy had played just one more MFing game.

Or it could be clumsily modified to “Joel Selwood and Lance Franklin are the only two players to compete in both the 2008 and 2022 GFs and they are 18th* and 19th* on the all-time most games played list”.

*correct as of August 4 2023.

Because none of my family or friends give a sh*t about this type of thing, and because I concede it's not thread-worthy - I'm gonna post this here because I have to get it off my chest...

What are the chances of a Hunter Renfroe playing for my baseball team, and a Hunter Renfrow playing for my NFL team??

Now that's a coincidence!

The brownlow-grand final curse for the Pies

1979 Peter Moore (lost grand final by 5 pts)
2003 Nathan Buckley (lost grand final by 48 points)
2011 Dane Swan (Lost Grand Final by 38 points)

Round 1 2023

Geelong were up 22 points against Collingwood in the third quarter with Collingwood coming back to win by 22 with the final score 103-125

Round 22 2023

Geelong were up 22 points against Collingwood in the first quarter with Collingwood coming back win by 8 with the final score 109-101
Seriously, who gives a shit?

Midway in the 4th quarter today

Geelong led Fremantle 9.10.64 to 8.9.57
Western Bulldogs led GWS 9.10.64 to 8.9.57

Both were beaten
Amazing coincidence that this stat was also posted in the Weird Football Scores thread on the Football Statistics forum.
