Well done UK, that's the best way to develop the sport. Also, people who play it while they're kids are much more likely to remain fans as they grow older.

good on you UK. its great to see the sport that all us aussie know and love spread. Seeing people take up the sport we are all so passionate about.

Its inspiring to read those articles, like that tv show on like 2 weeks ago, Escence of the Game. Seeing how footy breaks down culture and language barriers, and brings everyone together.

An interesting read. The only worrying sign is the phrase "fastest growing sport in the UK" - it's been something of a kiss of death to the 23,636,892 other sports that have been described as the fastest growing sport in the uk in previous years.

Good to see it getting into schools though. I can see it being much more popular with kids than rugby, which typically isn't that popular, as it's still essentially about scoring goals.

The big obstacle would be the teachers. PE teachers have a habit of being members of rugby clubs, and so are very keen on rugby, and if they don't know the rules of aussie rules, teaching the basics of the game, let alone anything resembling tactics, would be impossible.

For all the BBC's positive reporting though, it'd be nice if the BBC Sport pages at least acknowledged the games existence.
